Palin, Obama, Biden & Earmarks…but whose name is missing???

Lie is not a word I like to use and I try to avoid it, unless it is unavoidable.
Today Senator Jim DeMint had a column in the Wall Street Journal. He points out as we did, that the Alaska Democratic Party gave Palin credit for being fiscally responsible and for killing the bridge project when the revised estimates for ythe project pushed the price into the stratosphere.
Here is an excerpt:
Mrs. Palin used her veto pen to slash more local projects than any other governor in the state’s history. She cut nearly 10% of Alaska’s budget this year, saving state residents $268 million. This included vetoing a $30,000 van for Campfire USA and $200,000 for a tennis court irrigation system. She succinctly justified these cuts by saying they were “not a state responsibility.”
Meanwhile in Washington, Mr. Obama voted for numerous wasteful earmarks last year, including: $12 million for bicycle paths, $450,000 for the International Peace Museum, $500,000 for a baseball stadium and $392,000 for a visitor’s center in Louisiana.
Mrs. Palin cut Alaska’s federal earmark requests in half last year, one of the strongest moves against earmarks by any governor. It took real leadership to buck Alaska’s decades-long earmark addiction.
Of course McCain’s name is missing. McCain doesn’t request any earmarks as he has always opposed this system of spending because it is too easily abused.
Keep in mind that Biden and Obama voted for all of them, but it gets better…They also have nothing to say about Obama’s $935.7 million in earmarks he spent including $1 million for the hospital his wife works at. If Palin had gotten a $1 million earmark for her husband, would we ever hear the end of it from the elite media and the smear outfits like HuffPost and DailyKOS and Alan Colmes?
Illinois has another Senator, Dick Durbin, who rakes up $350 million in earmarks a year.
And here they are attacking Sarah Palin who used the power of the line item veto to cut earmarks in Alaska in HALF. This is exactly the message Palin delivered in a March 5th newspaper column HERE. Click and learn. Here is an excerpt:
I recognize that Congress, which exercises the power of the purse, has the constitutional responsibility to put its mark on the federal budget, including adding funds that the president has not proposed.
Accordingly, my administration has recommended funding for specific projects and programs when there is an important federal purpose and strong citizen support.
This year, we have requested 31 earmarks, down from 54 in 2007. Of these, 27 involve continuing or previous appropriations and four are new requests. The total dollar amount of these requests has been reduced from approximately $550 million in the previous year to just less than $200 million.
Of course, Senate Democrats opposed the House Republican’s attempt to get earmark reform anyways… and they paint HER as the abuser….
