AWESOME: Geraldo Rivera Takes Same Position as IUSB Vision on Blago/Fitzgerald

Posted by iusbvision on January 26, 2009

It’s about time that Fox News caught up with us.

Since December 11th 2008 the IUSB Vision has been alone in saying that the way that the prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald, has conducted the Blagojevich investigation has been shameful and incompetent. What is shameful is that Fitzgerald said that what he had would make Abe Lincoln roll over in his grave while showboating to the media (which is another violation of legal ethics because it was a clear attempt to taint any would be jury pool), only to see Fitzgerald produce NO indictments against Blagojevich. Fitzgerald even had the sitting governor arrested when he had no indictments. Now Fitzgerald is asking the court for special extensions to file indictments.

You don’t arrest a sitting governor and start a media fiasco unless you have it and it is clear that Fitzgerald didn’t have it on December 10th and doesn’t have it today. This is not the first time Fitzgerald has engaged in prosecutorial misconduct.

Geraldo (who is a lawyer) and another analyst at Fox News had much to say in the video below, including how the impeachment trial against Blagojevich is a complete sham designed to skirt due process, which is what we here at IUSB Vision have said from day one.

Geraldo: “this is a total deprevation of this man’s due process”

[Editor’s Note – On a personal note; as a writer and as a former IUSB Chief Justice, every time I have made a legal determination, my legal interpretation has won the day. I am glad to see that experienced lawyers are now coming to what I saw as obvious from day one. Blagojevich might very well be guilty, but due process has been thrown to the dogs in the worst form almost very step of the way of this story. It is about time that someone else besides us have finally spoken out. To see our detailed coverage of this case just click the “Blagojevich” tag at the bottom of this entry.]

Special thanks to Johnny Dollar for posting the video.

UPDATE – Here is Geraldo’s Interview with Blago – definately a must see.

Obama Signs in New Rules for Automakers

Posted by iusbvision on January 26, 2009

Just when we all thought that cars were expensive enough and the automakers were struggling enough. Obama today signed into effect new rules requiring higher gas milage from cars as of 2011. This is going to cause another jump in auto prices.

How are the middle class and the poor going to be able to buy American cars under such circumstances? Once again it is government acting as if we working folks are made of money. Obama is a millionaire so he can afford it…..

EU official: Hamas responsible for Gaza

Posted by iusbvision on January 26, 2009

It’s about darn time that the EU got sick of rebuilding Gaza. It looks like the EU is about ready to tell Palestinians to knock it off or get cut off.

JPOST:

Hamas bears an “overwhelming responsibility” for the destruction of Gaza, a senior European Union official said Monday, as he toured the area to see the destruction caused by Israel’s 22-day military offensive there.

But Louis Michel also leveled harsh words against Israel for killing civilians and bombing nonmilitary targets during the fighting.

I almost fell off my chair when I saw this:

Last week, when EU Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero Waldner visited Israel, she said that the EU would not pay to rebuild Gaza until a government that it found acceptable was in power there.

On Monday, Michel was more frank, saying the EU was tired of paying for the same infrastructure only to have it repeatedly destroyed.

Speaking with reporters later in Tel Aviv, he said, “It is very frustrating that the EU commission and the member states are systematically obliged morally to pay and to pay once more for infrastructures that we have already paid for once or twice or three times,” said Michel.

Ed Morrissey catches the elite media covering for Democrats again: Three corrupt politicians, no party affiliation mentioned.

Posted by iusbvision on January 26, 2009

Morrissey at Hotair.com:

Salvatore DiMasi will resign as Massachusetts House Speaker, the Boston Globe reports, after a series of scandals and investigations.  The Globe reports on the investigations of influence peddling and other potential acts of corruption.  In fact, the Globe reports on just about everything but the party affiliation of DiMasi — and his two disgraced predecessors:

House Speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi plans to resign from his powerful post tomorrow and depart the North End legislative seat he has held for three decades, saying yesterday that he is proud of his record and is departing with his “head high” despite ongoing ethics controversies swirling around him.

DiMasi – the third consecutive Massachusetts speaker to leave under a cloud – was reinstalled as speaker three weeks ago. But he has remained under public scrutiny, an Ethics Commission investigation, and a pair of grand juries looking at the influence-peddling allegations involving his close friends. …

Charles F. Flaherty was forced to resign in 1996 when federal prosecutors charged him with income tax violations after months of investigating his relationship with lobbyists.

His successor, Thomas M. Finneran, who grabbed the speaker’s post by cobbling together a coalition of Democrats and Republicans, was under federal investigation in 2004 when he resigned to take a high-paying trade association job.

He pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice charges in January 2007 for having lied under oath in a civil suit involving a legislative redistricting plan.

Let me assist Frank Phillips and the Globe’s editors, who apparently didn’t have time to do this research:

In fact, in the last case, Phillips and the Globe managed a two-fer in the Name That Party game show.  On January 9th, Philips reported that Finneran applied for a pardon with the outgoing Bush administration.

UPDATE – we also reported on the party affiliation phenomenon with the elite media HERE and HERE and HERE.

Two More Ex-Gitmo Detainees Appear in Al-Qaeda Video

Posted by iusbvision on January 26, 2009

Just a three days ago we reported that a former Guantanamo prisoner is now an Al-Qaeda leader in Yeman.

AFP:

Two men released from the US “war on terror” prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba have appeared in a video posted on a jihadist website, the SITE monitoring service reported.

One of the two former inmates, a Saudi man identified as Abu Sufyan al-Azdi al-Shahri, or prisoner number 372, has been elevated to the senior ranks of Al-Qaeda in Yemen, a US counter-terrorism official told AFP.

Three other men appear in the video, including Abu al-Hareth Muhammad al-Oufi, identified as an Al-Qaeda field commander. SITE later said he was prisoner No. 333.

The Defense Department has said as many as 61 former Guantanamo detainees — about 11 percent of 520 detainees transferred from the detention center and released — are believed to have returned to the fight.

Mike Huckabee: Obama is Pushing a Radical Social Agenda

Posted by iusbvision on January 26, 2009

Within minutes of taking office Obama’s social agenda was published on Whitehouse.gov. It is not moderate stuff and the elite media is mum. Clinton did this when he first got elected and they paid the price. It looks like here we go again with round two. Is this the change he campaigned on?

Indiana Win’s Miss America Pageant for the First Time

Posted by iusbvision on January 26, 2009

Katie Stam a journalism student from Seymour. She is also quite obviously an amatuer body builder and gave her speech against the abuse of performance enhancing drugs.

miss-indiana

Stam is the spokesman for the Children’s Miracle Network. The AP had an intersting story on how she overcame illness in time to win.
