This rhetoric is right out of the Marxist/Leninist lexicon.

“We are the Borg, your individual distinctiveness will be added to our own, resistance is futile!” From the series Star Trek Voyager; the Borg are made up of individuals taken from their home planets, many times destroyed, and forcibly recruited to join the ‘Collective’. They are called drones. Drones have cybernetic implants to control and make the drones into what ever “service” they can provide for the collective. All thoughts are heard by all drones. The ‘Hive Mind’ is controlled by a ‘Queen’ who is a the center of the Collective. When a drone is separated from the collective, he becomes lost, unable to function, thinks himself as “small”, no longer “strong”. The objective of the collective is to seek out perfection.

Who ever wrote out this concept of “The Borg” for Voyager must of had the Marxist/Leninist lexicon in mind. Just like the Borg, individual thought is squashed and no one can leave the “collective”.
