Mark Souder will be missed.

Posted by iusbvision on May 18, 2010

Mark Souder has resigned amid rumors that he had an affair with a staffer. I respect Souder for resigning even though it is clear that no one could represent the district better. He had a personal failing, but as a public servant Souder served with distinction. The people who will be hurt the most by the resignation are the people of Indiana who lost one of the best representatives in Congress. There is talk that Marlin Stutzman may be chosen as Souder’s replacement. Stutzman would be an excellent choice.

That’s too bad Mark thinks he has to resign, but he is doing what’s right for the Republican party. On the other hand, as a Democrat his could continue on and not miss a step.

I think Stutzman would be a great representative, I voted for him in the senate primary and encouraged others to do so. Maybe Chris Chocola could take up the seat since he got gerrymandred out of District 2.

[Chris is a great guy, but as head of the Club for Growth Chris wields much more influence than a single member of the House. I think he would decline the offer. Go Marlin! – Editor]
