IUSB’s own Talia Reed: Indiana Democrats Desert Their Duty

Posted by iusbvision on March 3, 2011

Note – Indiana is now fining missing Democrats $250 a day, Wisconsin is fining missing legislators $100 per day, both plan to bill them with expenses.

Talia Reed now holds elected office in Starke County.

Reed:

Talia Reed

Indiana needs jobs. We didn’t get them when the Democrats had control of the Indiana House in 2008 and so voters traded them in for a Republican leadership in 2010. And with that change of leadership, Republicans have for the most part, spent the first two months of the General Session doing the hard work of creating legislation that will establish an environment in our state to keep and attract business because Republicans know that it is business not government that creates jobs and wealth, and the only way for Hoosiers to have jobs and wealth is to have a business-friendly state. And in comparison to neighboring states such as Illinois, Indiana has been just that.

According to the October 2010 issue of Forbes Magazine, Indiana is first in the Midwest and tenth in the overall nation for lowest cost locations. And because Indiana has the common sense to pay its bills and keep government expenses filed down to match its tax revenue, we are one of only nine states in the nation to hold triple-A credit ratings from all three agencies (Standard & Poor’s, Fitch, and Moody’s).

Practicing common sense and keeping government at bay in order to boast as such is indeed hard work (even if only common sense) because of the incredible fight that ensues by the numerous supplicants who circle our state building seeking whose tax dollars they may devour. And standing up to such brute forces takes real guts and real leadership. But it is the path to prosperity.

We see no such guts nor leadership from the those Democrat Congressmen and women who fled the state for which they claim to serve and high-tail it to that neighboring state whose government surely sympathizes with them. You know which state that is—the one that raised taxes 66% during a lame duck session. The state that is more than $9 billion in debt and carries the worst pension debt in the nation. The one where President Barak Obama was schooled in politics, right next to disgraced Governor Rod Blagojevich. While meaningful bills have waited their turn in line, been refined through the committee process, and now deserve their day on the floor, most Democrats, including our own Nancy Dembowski, have chosen to seek sanctuary in this state of Illinois.

Abandoning ship to avoid a quorum is cowardly and irresponsible. Sometimes tough decisions have to be made, even if it means saying no to the unions whose demands taxpayers no longer want nor can afford. Sometimes it means saying no to the unions who contribute considerably to campaigns. Sometimes it means being the minority and not getting your way.

The loophole shenanigan isn’t a new tactic, nor is it a Democrat tactic. In fact, as Pat Bauer, the House Minority leader pointed out in a press conference, it’s one Abraham Lincoln used himself, jumping out of a window to avoid a quorum while he served in the Illinois State Legislature. However, what Pat Bauer left out was the fact that doing so was not something Lincoln was proud of. In fact, his biographer William H. Herndon called it something Lincoln, “always seemed willing to forget.”

It is time for Indiana’s government to stop acting like the government of those debt-ridden, unsustainable states that live from hand to mouth on unrealistic promises that can’t be met, and start acting like the responsible leaders we need and deserve.

Stop wasting our resources and get back to doing the business of the Indiana people.

Talia isn’t alone The Indy Star has had it as well:

Indy Star:

It becomes harder by the day to take Indiana House Democrats seriously.

First, they went on strike to protest legislation they didn’t like — the so-called right-to-work bill. Then they fled the state, holing up in an Urbana, Ill., hotel, where they continue to draw paychecks courtesy of Indiana taxpayers but do no real work.

And now, after Republicans gave in and agreed to pull the right-to- work legislation from the agenda, House Minority Leader Pat Bauer and his caucus have demanded that as many as 10 other bills be killed. Their demands are so absurd that they even included one bill that the General Assembly already has approved and sent to Gov. Mitch Daniels for his signature.

What’s next? Asking Daniels to personally deliver room service?

Whatever arguments House Democrats had going for them, principally that Republicans had sprung the right-to-work legislation on Hoosiers by surprise, they’ve now squandered.

No matter how much they dislike charter school legislation, or the school voucher bill, or merit pay for teachers, Democrats can’t honestly claim that Indiana voters didn’t have the opportunity to weigh those issues before the November elections. The governor and Republican leaders in the General Assembly made clear the planks of their education reform platform well ahead of Election Day.

Voters rewarded the GOP with a landslide victory that included a supermajority in the state Senate and 60 seats in the House. Bauer, who decried the reform efforts, was resoundingly dumped as Speaker.

Now, after having been swept into a distinct minority in the Statehouse, those Democrats who remain in office are trying to block through childish antics what they couldn’t win through democratic action.

ATF Whistle-blower: My bosses ordered me to allow illegal guns to flow to Mexican cartels – UPDATED! w/Larry Pratt from GOA

Posted by iusbvision on March 3, 2011

How nice.

Attorney General Eric Holder, Sec. Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama pushed for a new ban on self loading rifles by claiming that they were the primary source of guns to the Mexican cartels. Internal government reports showed that this was not true and that only 17% of drug cartel guns in Mexico can be traced back to organized crime straw man sales in the US.

Fox News got their hands on the government report and blasted the government and the other news media outlets for swallowing the bogus narrative from the government and not doing their homework (VIDEO). As a result the left lost the argument.

Oh so what to do. I know, make sure more illegal guns get to Mexico and push for a gun ban later! Well now they have been busted again.

Of course, guns at American gun stores are not machine guns, they shoot one bullet at a time and merely look like the fully automatics. This is why, as the government report states, that most of these weapons are coming from the Mexican Military and the Communist Columbian Rebels such as FARC.

CBS (Be sure to watch the video at the CBS link to see how the agents unhappy with the policy were threatened and how Senator Grassley has asked for documents from the ATF and the Obama Administration is not cooperating):

(CBS News)  WASHINGTON – Federal agent John Dodson says what he was asked to do was beyond belief.

He was intentionally letting guns go to Mexico?

“Yes ma’am,” Dodson told CBS News. “The agency was.”

An Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms senior agent assigned to the Phoenix office in 2010, Dodson’s job is to stop gun trafficking across the border. Instead, he says he was ordered to sit by and watch it happen.

Investigators call the tactic letting guns “walk.” In this case, walking into the hands of criminals who would use them in Mexico and the United States.

Sharyl Attkisson’s original “Gunrunner” report

Dodson’s bosses say that never happened. Now, he’s risking his job to go public.

“I’m boots on the ground in Phoenix, telling you we’ve been doing it every day since I’ve been here,” he said. “Here I am. Tell me I didn’t do the things that I did. Tell me you didn’t order me to do the things I did. Tell me it didn’t happen. Now you have a name on it. You have a face to put with it. Here I am. Someone now, tell me it didn’t happen.”

Agent Dodson and other sources say the gun walking strategy was approved all the way up to the Justice Department. ***The idea was to see where the guns ended up, build a big case and take down a cartel. And it was all kept secret from Mexico.

ATF named the case “Fast and Furious.”

Surveillance video obtained by CBS News shows suspected drug cartel suppliers carrying boxes of weapons to their cars at a Phoenix gun shop. The long boxes shown in the video being loaded in were AK-47-type assault rifles.

So it turns out ATF not only allowed it – they videotaped it.

*** This is nonsense. American law enforcement cannot go into Mexico armed if the Mexican Military can’t take down the Cartel how will we with anything short of a military invasion? CBS says that none of this evidence was used in a cartel prosecution. No kidding. CPI has more, but spins it as positive as they can for the government which is no surprise. They report that their ATF supervisors reacted with glee over the connection between American guns that they let go to Mexico and the violence. Abuse and lawlessness at the ATF has been an ongoing problem for decades – LINK.

Double Standard on Race Based Scholarships for College? – Even the difficult to defend can win with a solid communications strategy.

Posted by iusbvision on March 3, 2011

A group came out with a scholarship that is only for impoverished white males and only says that the applicant must be 25% white. President Obama would qualify for this scholarship.

Before we go on let me tell you about my experience. I am broke and barely surviving. I graduated with distinction from IU and was on the Dean’s List for every semester I attended school. I graduated from two military tech schools at the top of my class, and I am an MSCE with thousands of dollars worth of computer education which used to help me make a good living until mass outsourcing combined with mass importing of temporary workers for IT jobs have suppressed wages and made finding good work very difficult. I went back to college and there were very few scholarships I could qualify for as most of them are ethnic, gender, or career based (for people with a different major). I was even asked by the scholarship administrator if I had any Indian or other “minority” blood etc in my family so that I might qualify. It took me almost six years to graduate with a four-year degree because I had to work and help raise my child during that time. Ms. Green wants to talk about oppression, try living like I have had to for six years and it won’t matter what skin color you have because you will feel it. The only scholarship I was able to get was a $1,000 scholarship  for one year because of my family history in a fraternal organization, it was the wildest stroke of luck that I was able to get that.

By the way, isn’t white oppression a card used in the Wisconsin protests? Thousands of people, mostly white males, are carrying signs saying they are oppressed just like the people in Egypt and Libya and why? Because they are being asked to pay a small portion of their gold-plated health care and retirement benefits and not have the ability to reverse it at the next negotiation. We have lots of video of them saying this. So if whites making $89k a year are oppressed (as Wisconsin teachers are), what about broke college students?

Ms. Green thinks that people of all genders and skin colors deserve an equal shot at an education. If so Ms. Green then why aren’t you critiquing the countless scholarships that say that they will help anyone but poor white males? Notice how she does not let him answer the question before she piles on the next one. Ms. Green is not interested in the fact that 65% of college students are women, she is not interested in the fact that as a poor white male it is very hard to get a scholarship. She only wants to demagogue.

Look at the graduation statistics right here at IU South Bend. In 2009 406 women graduated compared with 194 men. http://college.mychances.net/college-593-Indiana-University-South-Bend_admissions-statistics.html

Ms. Green goes on and on about how women get paid less, which is misleading. They often come up with that number by looking at lifetime money earned which for women always comes up as less because believe it or not folks, women tend to take maternity leave and most men do not. Many women also chose take extended time off to raise their children before returning to work. This is from the same crowd that said Sarah Palin should not be governor or run for Vice President because she should be at home raising her kids. Besides the last time I checked, I can’t start making that “fabulous disparate income” until AFTER I graduate, which renders this entire part of the conversation irrelevant.

Now let us examine this exchange from an academic/communications point of view.

The man from the scholarship group, Mr. Lake, is the financial director for the fund and obviously has no communications training.

Lesson 1: Never let anyone go on national television to speak for you, a group, or a cause, who is not a communications professional.

Mr. Lake let Greene walk all over him and a communications pro knows how to deal with someone who misbehaves like that. I would have loudly spoke up saying, “Ms. Greene you claim to be about equality so why don’t you demonstrate it by letting me have equal time in answering the questions and showing me some equity!”  Or “Megyn did you bring me on for the honor of listening to Ms. Green talk over me?”

Look at the look on her face in the video vs his. She is a communications pro who also happens to be a BS artist as we will continue to show below. She is smiling because she knows that this man she is about to face has no idea how to deal with the pile of BS she is about to unload.

Lesson 2: Always have a list of talking points and anticipated counter talking points.

Check out the IUSB graduation statistic above. The “after I graduate” is another good point. Examine the arguments I made above. After Ms. Green went on and on about how women earn less I would have countered with “So this means that Roger Ailes offers Steve Doocy, Bill Hemmer, and Griff Jenkins way more money than you get right Megyn?” After the objection I would fire back with, “Wait a minute, if the allegation is that conservative white males like Roger are a part of the ‘He-Man Women Haters Club’ than Megyn can barely put food on the table isn’t that right Ms. Greene”. This would put her in the position of having to say that “right-wing Fox News” is a big exception to that rule. Of course since Roger Ailes hired Ms. Green as a contributor she would almost be forced to defend him.

It might also be worth mentioning “Well Megyn we have a wage disparity right here as Ms. Greene is being paid very well to be here, I am not.” If she denies you come back with, “You mean Roger doesn’t pay you like he does other male contributors?”.  “OK the fact is Megyn that even at my alma mater 406 women graduated compared to 194 men in 2009.”

Why use counter talking points like this? Because Ms. Greene isn’t interested in talking about this subject, she is only interested in demagoguery, white vs black and men vs women, and spreading BS leftist dogma.

A good way to shut it down would have been to say “Ms. Greene you are here because you are supposed to be an intelligent lady, so why don’t you show us that you are one by sticking to the subject of impoverished people struggling to survive through school and not degenerating the conversation by demagoguing it with leftist dogma.”

This leads us to lesson 3, which is invaluable for coming up with even better counter talking points than these.

Lesson 3: Know who you are talking to and never agree to appear on a program unless you know who all of the other panelists are going to be as this will provide you with even better talking points than what you see above.

So who is Jehmu Greene? Here is her wikipedia entry – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehmu_Greene.

The group she founded with Gloria Steinem and Robin Morgan is the Women’s Media Center. Gloria Stienem is an early radical feminist who has pushed points of view like marriage is oppression, all sex is rape, and her academic theories are designed to push the male behavior out of young boys.

Take these examples from Robin Morgan’s Wikipedia entry:

Robin Morgan (born January 29, 1941) is a former child actor turned American radical feminist activist, writer, poet, and editor of Sisterhood is Powerful and Ms. Magazine.

In the late 1960s she was a founding member of radical feminist organizations such as New York Radical Women and W.I.T.C.H.. She also founded the Women’s Media Center.[1]

Wikipedia quotes her as saying

  • My white skin disgusts me. My passport disgusts me. They are the marks of an insufferable privilege bought at the price of others’ agony. If I could peel myself inside out I would be glad. If I could become part of the oppressed I would be free.[2]

  • In her book Going Too Far, she called for women to “fight for and create” a “gynocratic world” and “not [“reclaim”] … some false state of equality”.

  • This provides an entire new dimension to the conversation doesn’t it? The talking points and counter talking points are falling into your lap. One way to tackle it may be like this depending on how tough you wish to be:

Megyn excuse me but the person you have brought on to discuss this situation is a nut who ran a racialist organization that is profoundly anti-men.

    After the denial…

Well let me quote the founders of her Women’s Media Center, Robin Morgan from her book Going Too Far – quote , ‘Women should ‘fight for and create’ a ‘gynocratic world’ and ‘not [‘reclaim’] … some false state of equality’. Morgan also said and I quote, ‘My white skin disgusts me. My passport disgusts me.’

The other co-founder is Gloria Stienem whose anti-male radical feminism is well known. Including statements such as ‘marriage is slavery and all sex is rape’. Stienem’s academic theories are those designed to push male behavior out of boys at school which has been talked about on this very network Megyn.

One last short point Megyn, anyone who goes to the Women’s Media Center web site can learn pretty quickly that it pushes an amalgamation of racial identity (LaRaza – The Race etc) and radical feminist groups.

Ms. Green talks… and she will try to either defend her group or she will push on with the talking points she made in the video… So no matter what she says when you can talk again say:

Megyn the real question here is why is it that Ms. Greene doesn’t these want impoverished boys to get this scholarship money?

    After the non-denial denial…

Shaking my head, “Bologna! Why else would she be talking oppression and throwing all of these other distractions in our face when her point is clear, because we had slavery 150 years ago these impoverished kids shouldn’t get scholarships.

Ms. Green or Megyn will talk… at this point no matter what she says , you turn it around. Oh I see and because you think XXX these impoverished kids who have next to no scholarship opportunities now should not get needed money for college? No one in our group likes the idea of race based scholarships, but if we are going to have them shouldn’t these impoverished students have a shot at similar scholarships?

Big difference between the video and what I just provided isn’t there? This is the value of knowing how your opponent is vulnerable. Fox News wanted a blow up, a fight, that is why they brought the group on, so if that is what they want your choices are to either don’t come on, get served like you just saw in the video, or win the fight. If this scholarship fund had a solid communications pro to help them donations would be piling in.
