Leftist campus administrators attempt to shut down 9-11 commemorations and end up with our lawyers breathing down their necks…

VIDEO: Northern Arizona University (NAU) campus administration attempts to shut down 9/11 event; students hold their ground and defend the First Amendment.

Comments by Stephanee Freer:

Northern Arizona University (NAU) doesn’t want students to remember 9/11. At least that’s the message that NAU is sending to members of the Conservatives club who were interrupted and threatened by university administrators for four hours on Friday.

These actions by the administration occurred when the conservatives passed out American flags, buttons, stickers, and posters to students as part of the YAF 9/11: Never Forget Project.

The group was confronted for setting up their own table inside the university union, instead of registering with Student Life to request a space. After several administrators hassled them about the project, the club members took down the table and put it away along with the posters. In order to still remember 9/11, and comply with the administrators, Conservatives Club stood against the wall and handed out American flags to passerby.

This was not enough for the administration. They continued to go out of their way to intimidate, threaten, and interrupt the project.

Two students are currently being charged with several misconduct violations, and the club as a whole is facing suspension even though the event did not display the club’s name in any way.

The event paid reverence to the innocent victims that were lost and the broken families that were left behind. This is an example of how an act of free speech can go terribly wrong when students’ rights are infringed upon by leftist university bureaucrats.

Did administrators give you a hard time for your 9/11 memorial? Write about it on Campus Reform or contact your Regional Field Coordinator today for advice and assistance.

Read another account of the story here.

IUSB Vision Editor Chuck Norton:

Let us clear a few things up for any university admins who are viewing this page and watched that video. “Time, Place, and Manner” does not, has never and will never mean that you can set up “First Amendment zones” or “designated areas” as one administrator tried to invent in that video. Attempts to do so have always failed in the courts and universities that have enacted them have had them successfully challenged in federal court and in some cases paying damages/attorney’s fees.

“Time, Place, and Manner” comes into effect if the purpose of the demonstration is not speech, but rather to disrupt and prevent others from leaving or getting around the speech event.

Here are some examples:

One cannot hold a protest in the middle of a highway during rush hour.

One cannot have a large protest in the middle of a classroom while class is in session thus preventing the class from doing its mission.

One can have a protest in a cafeteria, but could not have one that surrounds the checkout so that people could not pay for their food.

All “Time, Place, and Manner” restrictions if proved necessary must place the minimum possible restrictions on the speech event and cannot be arbitrary.

Standing on the wall in a wide hallway or foyer doesn’t even come close to meeting the allowed “Time, Place, and Manner” legal standard, and if the university has ever let anyone set up a booth or table there than the university has already lost. If the university has bulletin boards there for people to stop and read those people would be taking up the same space as two students handing out flags on 9-11.

Under these circumstances it means that the university knew that such a small demonstration was allowable and the result would be the university suffering a humiliating defeat in court, and could also subject the administrators to a section 1983 lawsuit because they would have or should have reasonably known that they were using the color of law to selectively violate these students First Amendment rights by abusing the public trust using color of law. If a section 1983 lawsuit were successful it would mean that those students whose rights were violated could go after the personal assets of the said offending administrator (A legal strategy that FIRE and other groups who defend the First Amendment are now considering due to the gross misconduct of so many college administrators).

More From Stephanee Freer:

The administrators at Northern Arizona University are still trying to figure out what hit them. As a Leadership Institute Field Rep I worked with the NAU Conservatives to fight back after administrators tried to shut down their YAF 9/11 display.

After releasing a YouTube video that gained more than 1,500 hits exposing the NAU administrators harassing the students, local and national media outlets picked up on the story.

The Arizona Daily Sun, Drudge Report, Townhall, The Blaze, and the Daily Caller all posted stories on the absurd actions of the NAU administrators.

The media pressure became too much for the NAU administration.  They have decided to drop the charges against all the students involved in the 9/11 memorial event.

On Monday morning, following Friday’s run-in with NAU Student Life administrators, the students being tried for misconduct violations requested their hearings be extended until the next week when their attorneys could be present.

The students wanted to make sure they were familiar with all of their rights. With the help of The Leadership Institute, they contacted both the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education and the Alliance Defense Fund for legal assistance.  Both organizations took an interest, and are providing legal support to the students.

The administration responded to the student’s request late Monday afternoon stating that they would, in fact, grant a hearing extension so that they could “review the situation more.”

Three hours later, the students were again contacted, and told that all charges were to be dropped.

Google, Yahoo, and Facebook Hide Things From You When You Search

Posted by iusbvision on June 6, 2011

This is slightly disturbing but highly enlightening.

So how do you combat this?

Get a program called Spybot Search & Destroy. It is free and updated every week. Install it (do not install the “Tea Timer” option), update it manually once a week and run it from time to time. It will delete the tracking cookies on your computer. Another free program called CCleaner has an option to delete the specific Google and Yahoo tracking cookies as Spybot ignores those. This makes it more difficult for those companies to profile you. Only log in to Yahoo and Google when you have to, or only do it on a certain backup PC.

The search engines have “advanced search” options that will help you to get straighter results. I find myself using them from time to time.

Patriot Act Warrants That Let Agents Enter Homes Without Owner Knowing Triple Under Obama

Posted by iusbvision on May 17, 2011

This is exactly the opposite of what Obama promised.

KOAT News:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A special type of government search warrant that allows authorities to search homes without informing the owner for months is becoming more common, Target 7 has learned.Imagine someone walking through your neighborhood, coming into your home and rifling through your intimate belongings.“(They) search through your home, your dresser drawers, your computer files,” Peter Simonson, with ACLU New Mexico, said. These search warrants don’t involve knocking on doors or any type of warning at all. Delayed-notice search warrants, or “sneak-and-peek” warrants, allow federal agents to enter your home without telling you they’ve been there until months later.

The warrants have always been around, but their use has spiked since the revamped Patriot Act in 2005. The number of delayed-notice search warrants spiked nationally from nearly 700 in fiscal year 2007 to close to 2,000 in 2009.Upwards of 200 approved during that same three-year stretch came out of the 10th Circuit Court, which covers a handful of states including New Mexico. The majority of those delayed search warrants aren’t even for terrorism-related cases. According to the U.S. Department of Justice’s figures, the majority of the warrants are for drug cases.“While billed as an anti-terror tool, (a sneak-and-peek warrant) had no requirements on it that it precluded it from being used in standard criminal investigations,” Simonson said. The warrants are so secret that the New Mexico U.S. Attorney’s Office wouldn’t go on record with Target 7 about them. The ACLU said it expects delayed-notice warrant numbers to keep growing each year as long as certain parts of the Patriot Act remain on the books.

On Oil Obama Says One Thing & Does Another

Posted by iusbvision on May 17, 2011

Polling shows that like Jimmy Carter, Obama’s energy policy is going to send him packing in 2012. So what is the new strategy, tell people you are expanding domestic oil production and just not do it.

But expanding leases does nothing because often it is discovered that a lease cannot be trilled upon for technical reasons. Also, the government and environmental groups are not allowing companies to drill on leases they have paid for. The lease is just the first step of a process that takes years and the government can halt it any step of the way, and has as you will see below.

Obama’s Energy Secretary Steven Chu said after he was confirmed by the Senate that we have to find a way to get the price of gas to European levels (around $8 dollars a gallon). Even the new Democrats National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman just went on the record with a repeat of the Democrats energy policy, less domestic production, and more deficit spending for Chinese made solar panels.

Obama’s illegal offshore drilling moratorium explained. This will infuriate you. UPDATE – Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Confirms: Democrat Energy Policy is To Push For Less Energy and More Deficit Spending

This is a no miss short film explaining how the government can stop all drilling with the stroke of a pen….

On top of that Obama’s energy policy is now threatening to shut down the Alaska pipeline.

Heritage:

Obama Oil Policy Threatens Alaska Pipeline’s Existence

The invaluable Alaskan oil pipeline isn’t doing well these days. A remedy to help fix this precious resource is available but overzealous environmentalists and over-regulatory politicians are standing in the way.  The ever-decreasing amount of oil flowing through the pipeline is disrupting its effective operation — and threatening its very existence.

This problem could easily be solved by opening up more domestic drilling in Alaska. This would allow more oil to flow through the pipeline, maintain the correct temperature (which falls to dangerous levels with insufficient supply). But access to drilling permits has been severely reduced. With gas prices hovering around $4 a gallon, it is inconceivable that the Obama administration would continue to hinder production and add regulations that could eliminate yet another standard domestic source of oil. Yet that is what is occurring.

In yesterday’s Wall Street Journal, Russell Gold writes about the threat to kill the pipeline:

Shell earlier this year canceled plans to drill in the Beaufort Sea this summer because, after five years, it couldn’t get a federal air-emission permit for an offshore drilling rig. Its plans for drilling in the Chukchi Sea on Alaska’s northwest coast are also held up by a legal dispute. Exxon Mobil is also waiting for federal environmental approval, and in February, the federal government denied ConocoPhillips a permit the company had been working on for five years.

…Shutting the pipeline would force refineries to find new and more expensive supplies of crude oil. And President Barack Obama’s efforts to decrease oil imports would suffer a major setback.

While opening more drilling in Alaska would help significantly, there are even more places where permits and environmental regulations are causing problems. Heritage’s Nick Loris writes:

We can’t drill off the Pacific Coast, Atlantic Coast, or the eastern Gulf of Mexico. The U.S. Environmental Appeals Board withheld air quality permits preventing Shell from moving forward to develop 27 billion barrels of oil off the coasts of Alaska. The Environmental Protection Agency already issued two air permits, but Earthjustice filed a petition to review the permits, causing the Appeals Board to act.

Environmental activists within the Obama administration are literally halting the much needed domestic oil exploration America needs to improve our economic well being and reduce gas prices for hurting consumers. Saving the pipeline should be top priority right now.

Fairfax teacher still suffering from false molestation allegations. Police officer admits to lying…

Posted by iusbvision on May 16, 2011

You can read the story HERE at the Washington Post:

Sean Lanigan’s nightmare began in January 2010, when the principal at Centre Ridge Elementary School pulled him out of the physical education class he was teaching and quietly walked him into an interrogation with two Fairfax County police detectives.

He had no warning that a 12-year-old girl at the Centreville school had accused him of groping and molesting her in the gym.

The girl, angry at Lanigan about something else entirely, had made the whole thing up. But her accusations launched a soul-sapping rollercoaster ride that still hasn’t ended.

“Emotionally, a part of me has died inside,” Lanigan said in a recent interview. “I’m physically and mentally exhausted all the time, how the whole process has been dragged out to this date. It certainly has affected the quality of life for me and my family at home.”

Lanigan remains in limbo, nearly a year after a jury’s acquittal. The Fairfax School District transferred him from Centre Ridge in a move that ultimately forced his wife to quit her job. School officials are now transferring him again. And the district has refused to pay his $125,000 in legal fees, even though Virginia law allows reimbursement for employees who are cleared of wrongdoing on the job.

~snip

A jury found him not guilty after just 47 minutes of deliberation — virtually unheard of in a child sex abuse case. Jurors were outraged by the lack of evidence, with one weeping in sympathy during closing arguments.
~snip
But this is the part that really rubs me bad…

Police declined to allow Nicole Christian, the lead detective on the case, to be interviewed for this article. Several months after Lanigan was acquitted, Fairfax prosecutors dismissed another of Christian’s child abuse cases in the middle of trial, a rarity, when the detective acknowledged that she had “misstated” some key facts in her sworn testimony.

This kind of nonsense happens just too often. Be sure to go to the Washington Post’s web site to read the entire piece and be sure to watch the video. It is not every day that I get to commend the Post on a solid piece of journalism, I just wish it would become a trend.

Over Half of All Obamacare Waivers Given to Union Members

Posted by iusbvision on May 16, 2011

Mark Hemingway at The Weekly Standard:

In what is fast becoming a weekly event, the Obama administration granted 200 more companies aivers from the Democrats’ sweeping health care law in the Friday night news dump. That brings the number of companies receiving waivers to 1,372. (You can get a full list of the companies exempted here.)

Not surprisingly, it helps to be a Democratic ally when seeking a waiver. The Republican Policy Committee reports that over half of the workers that have been exempted so far belong to unions:

The plans newly approved for waivers cover more than 160,000 people, bringing to nearly 3.1 million the number of individuals in plans exempted from the health law’s requirements.  Of the participants receiving waivers, more than half – over 1.55 million – are in union plans, raising questions of why such a disproportionate share of union members are receiving waivers from the law’s requirements.  The percentage of participants receiving waivers that come from unions also continues to rise – the number was 48% in April, and 45% in March.

Unions already received a generous concession in the health care bill. Their generous “cadilac” insurance plans were exempted from being taxed until 2018, adding about $120 billion to the bill’s cost over ten years. For more on how the administration has helped unions, see my story in THE WEEKLY STANDARD from a few weeks ago.

Corruption: After approving NBC buyout, FCC Commish becomes Comcast lobbyist

Posted by iusbvision on May 13, 2011

The lobbyist revolving door. Do what they want now, quit and come to get your cash. Even though Baker was a Republican appointee, what happened to the new lobbying rules to keep this from happening that President Obama promised in the campaign? Oh that’s right he loosened them…

ARS Technica:

Meredith Baker

Meredith Attwell Baker, one of the two Republican Commissioners at the Federal Communications Commission, plans to step down—and right into a top lobbying job at Comcast-NBC.

The news, reported this afternoon by the Wall Street Journal, The Hill, and Politico, comes after the hugely controversial merger of Comcast and NBC earlier this year. At the time, Baker objected to FCC attempts to impose conditions on the deal and argued that the “complex and significant transaction” could “bring exciting benefits to consumers that outweigh potential harms.”

Four months after approving the massive transaction, Attwell Baker will take a top DC lobbying job for the new Comcast-NBC entity, according to reports.

The response of groups like Free Press was expected in its anger, but not without merit. “No wonder the public is so nauseated by business as usual in Washington—where the complete capture of government by industry barely raises any eyebrows,” said Free Press’ Craig Aaron. “The continuously revolving door at the FCC continues to erode any prospects for good public policy. We hope—but won’t hold our breath—that her replacement will be someone who is not just greasing the way for their next industry job.”

Such cash-ins, of course, are a bipartisan affair in Washington.

Attwell Baker this afternoon released a statement once the news broke, explaining that she would leave on June 3 and that she was “privileged to have had the opportunity to serve the country at a time of critical transformation in the telecommunications industry. The continued deployment of our broadband infrastructures will meaningfully impact the lives of all Americans. I am happy to have played a small part in this success.”

Update: Comcast has issued an official announcement. Attwell Baker will report to Kyle McSlarrow, who formerly ran the top cable lobbying group NCTA. McSlarrow said, “Commissioner Baker is one of the nation’s leading authorities on communications policy and we’re thrilled she’s agreed to head the government relations operations for NBCUniversal. Meredith’s executive branch and business experience along with her exceptional relationships in Washington bring Comcast and NBCUniversal the perfect combination of skills.”

Obama’s Assault on South Carolina Jobs

Posted by iusbvision on May 13, 2011

Of course this is aside from his assault in Gulf Coast jobs with the illegal offshore drilling ban, the assault on Alaska jobs with the revocation of Shell’s oil rights, the assault on West Virginia jobs with the completely arbitrary revocation of mining permits, the assault on Nevada jobs with the political closing of the Yucca Mountain nuclear facility.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley responds on this blatant show of corruption from the Obama Administration.

[Editor’s note – The Democrats used every sex smear in the book trying to defeat this governor in the last election.]

More details from Newt Gingrich in Human Events:

Suspicious Timing

In October 2009, Boeing decided to open a new production facility in North Charleston, SC to meet the growing demand for its 787 Dreamliner airplane.

The decision came after months of negotiations with the machinists union leadership at Boeing’s main production hub in Puget Sound, WA.  Since 1995, there have been five work stoppages in the Puget Sound plant. The most recent strike, in 2008, lasted 58 days and cost the company $1.8 billion.

Still, Boeing negotiated in good faith with the union leadership for the Puget Sound facility to try and find a way to open the new factory there.  In exchange, Boeing wanted a ten year moratorium on strikes so the additional capacity upon which the company was about to spend billions of dollars would be a sound investment.

Boeing and the union were unable to reach an agreement so the company looked elsewhere.  They eventually settled on South Carolina, which is one of the twenty two “right-to-work” states in our country where workers cannot be forced to join a union.

The complaint filed last month by the NLRB on behalf of the machinists union alleges that Boeing located the new facility away from Puget Sound in retaliation for the 2008 strike, which is illegal under the National Labor Relations Act.  It makes this accusation despite the months Boeing spent negotiating with the union to try and reach a deal to open the new facility in Puget Sound, and despite the fact that there is a clear legal precedent that allows companies to consider the impact of future strikes when deciding where to open new facilities.

It is the timing of NLRB’s complaint, in fact, which seems retaliatory in nature, not Boeing’s business decision.

The complaint comes a full seventeen months after Boeing announced the location of the new facility and thirteen months after the union leadership first asked NLRB to look into the issue.
Boeing has already begun construction of the new facility, hiring over 1000 people in South Carolina and investing $1 billion. This complaint puts all those jobs created and all that money invested at risk.

Unelected, Unconfirmed Bureaucrats Running Wild

This action by the NLRB is even more disturbing when you consider that it is being led by Lafe Solomon, the acting General Counsel for NLRB, who still needs to be approved by the Senate.  He only holds his position because of a recess appointment by President Obama.

The president also used a recess appointment to place Craig Becker on the NLRB after Becker was rejected by a Democratic Senate in 2010.

As a recent Daily Caller article discovered, Becker’s past writings reveal a disturbing socialist bent that bear directly on the Boeing complaint.

Becker has previously written that the federal government should control and constrain the freedom of companies to direct their capital and resources as they please in order to rig labor negotiations in favor of unions.   Becker has also written that the NLRB possesses the power to impose card-check policies on the nation without an act of Congress.

An Assault on the Right to Work

It is clear that President Obama is packing the NLRB board with left wing ideologues as a payoff to his union boss allies, so that the fix is in with regard to this case and others like it.

The move is consistent with an ongoing pattern in the Obama administration, in which they use the apparatus of big government to reward their allies and punish their opponents.

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham was exactly right when he characterized the complaint as “one of the worst examples of unelected bureaucrats doing the bidding of special interest groups that I’ve ever seen.”

If the NLRB is successful in overturning Boeing’s perfectly rational business decision, it puts tens of millions of future jobs in all 22 right-to-work states in jeopardy.  It would make it effectively impossible for U.S. companies to open new facilities in right-to-work states if they are currently located in one that allows forced unionization.

Global Competition Is a Fact, Not a Theory

The Left simply cannot come to grips with the intensity of global economic competition and the demands it places on U.S. economic policies.

This blindness to reality was on display in the reaction to a recent USA Today article showing that Americans paid less taxes in 2009 than any time since the 1950s.  The article has been used by the Left in recent days as a counter to the conservative case that tax increases would be devastating to any economic recovery, possibly driving us back into recession.

Their argument shows the Left is completely missing the point.  In the new global economy, America is not competing against itself from 1990, 1970 or 1950.

We are competing against Germany, which today has only a 15% federal corporate income tax (and recently hit a 19-year low in its unemployment rate), compared to a 35% corporate tax rate in the U.S., the highest of any central government in the industrialized world.

We are competing against Singapore, which has a capital gains tax of zero, compared to a potential 35% capital gains tax in the United States.

We are competing against Switzerland, which caps the federal personal income tax rate at 11.5%.

We are competing against Canada, which just last week reelected an incumbent Conservative government that has pledged to cut the corporate tax to 15% and lower the personal income tax for families – all while planning to balance its entire budget by 2015.

Consider the case of the New York Stock Exchange.  This icon of American free markets is now owned by a Dutch holding company.

That $10.2 billion takeover was driven by simple economic reality. As Walter Gavin, Vice President of Emerson, explains, the Netherlands has a tax code which makes it more profitable for the NYSE to be owned by a Dutch company than by an American one.  In fact, according to Gavin, the United States lost almost forty companies to Amsterdam in 2010 alone thanks to their more business friendly environment.

This brings us back to President Obama and his union allies’ assault on South Carolina jobs and all twenty two right-to-work states in America.

If the NRLB’s complaint is successful, U.S. companies will simply increase their flight of capital and new facilities to places outside the United States.  In the midst of a struggling economy, it will make it harder for businesses to operate in America, not easier.

The union bosses and their political allies in the White House aren’t going to save union jobs by attacking right-to-work states.  They’ll simply prevent new jobs from being created here in America.

More HERE.

Gov. Rick Perry on the stream of lies from the Obama Administration. Withholding disaster funds for political reasons. – UPDATED!

Posted by iusbvision on May 13, 2011

Talk about a slow response to Katrina, how about no response because you are a Republican.

White House: Gov. Perry disrespected us because he would not greet us when the President flew in.

The Facts: Obama flew into El Paso, a two-hour flight for Gov. Perry and yet just a few hours later Obama was to be in Austin, where Gov. Perry was, for two fund-raisers. “We offered to meet the President here in Austin” says Gov. Perry. President Obama refused to meet with him.

White House: Border counties are safer than ever.

The Facts: The White House bases that number on the number of illegal immigration apprehensions. The apprehensions are down because the economy in the USA is bad and fewer people are coming across, but the drug cartels and border violence are up and some parts of the border have been ceded to the drug cartels and are not under our control.

White House: Gov. Perry is not telling the truth about the fires as the federal government is paying 75% of the bill.

The Facts: The Federal Government is helping with 25 fires out of 9000. [Editor’s Note – By the way, wild fires would not be so bad if the federal government did not have restrictions on forest management such as cutting fire breaks and cleaning underbrush.]

UPDATE – If you want to see the depth of President Obama’s border security lie, the Federal Government through the BLM is posting these signs in Arizona just south of Interstate 8. This is not just on the border as Interstate 8 is THREE COUNTIES inland.

If the border is safer than ever, why are these signs needed now and say not when Reagan was president or even Clinton?

The Arizona TEA Party recently posted this message on one of their web sites:

“Sheriff Dever’s Dept. (Cochise County) and also the Pinal County Sheriff’s Depts (Sheriff Paul Babeu) which are the two counties that are directly on the AZ/Mexican border, are now being sued by Obama and Eric Holder to prevent them from enforcing immigration laws? Mark, this situation has become extremely dangerous now. Not only are thousands of illegal Mexican immigrants crossing our border daily, we have thousands of OTM’s (Other Than Mexican….a-hem, middle-easterners).  Obama and Holder want to stop these Sheriff Depts from apprehending them, and handing them over to ICE for deportation.”

ABC’s Jake Tapper makes a few observations about the president’s border speech. He quotes the increase in border agents from the early Bush Administration, counting the increases authorized by the former president as his own. In short putting up a light fence on a few hundred miles of border when that border is thousands of miles long is hardly securing it, and neither is adding 3000 border agents which is an ounce in the bucket. Obama has hardly secured the border and in fact files harassment suits against local law enforcement to stop serious enforcement of it.

Democrats try to get copies of Senator Scott Brown’s medical records AND those of his family

Posted by iusbvision on April 1, 2011

Boston Herald:

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown — an upstart Blue State Republican in the cross hairs of national Democrats — is lashing out at the party’s opposition researchers, accusing them of prying into his family’s private health insurance records, and demanding that they stop fighting dirty.

“It seems in bad form. Obviously, when it comes to information about my wife and daughters, it crosses the line. I find it offensive and so do they,” Brown told the Herald yesterday.

“They (Democrats) don’t have any business muddling in the private health records of my family,” said Brown, adding that his family is “disturbed” by the intrusion.

Officials from the Group Insurance Commission, the state’s health insurance provider, notified Brown on Tuesday that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee asked them “to provide insurance information,” according to a copy of the GIC letter obtained by the Herald.

The GIC, a quasi-independent state agency, administers health insurance for state employees and their families. Brown’s wife, Gail Huff, and two daughters, Ayla and Arianna, were also on his state insurance plan when he was a Wrentham state senator.

A copy of the DSCC request provided to the Herald asks for “all direct correspondence” between Brown and the GIC under the Massachusetts public records law.

Now this is rich….

A DSCC spokesman insisted the request was only for public information and never sought private medical information about the Brown family.

To provide insurance information, like what was paid out, claims made etc. It is pretty easy to reverse engineer a medical record from that information, but oh no, you don’t want medical information, WHICH IS WHY YOU SENT THE LETTER TO THE STATE MEDICAL INSURANCE COMMISSION….

Come on guys, if you are going to issue a denial, can you at least come up with one that is better than that? Remember this is the state with RomneyCare folks, they state will have those records and the Democrats want them.

The Democratic Party illegally obtained Michael Steele’s credit report and released it, Obama illegally obtained a copy of Jack Ryan’s sealed divorce papers to put the details of his sex life and such on the front page and the Democrats also put Congressman Allen West’s Social Security number and other person info in a mailer to 60,000 people.

Extortion and Threats: Put union propaganda in your window or else.

Posted by iusbvision on April 1, 2011

http://www.unitedtaxpayers.com/latest-headlines/afscme-boycott-leads-to-300-increase-in-sales-lol/

Threats and boycott of small business by union leadership leads to 300% sales increase. Rank and file members of AFSCME stop by to apologize for their leadership’s idiocy:

UNION GROVE – Local union members apologized to business owners Thursday after hearing union leadership threatened to boycott businesses.

The stunning development happened late Thursday afternoon at Village Dollar, where members with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees showed their support to businesses that were targeted.

It all started after Dawn Bobo, owner of Village Dollar in Union Grove, refused to put up a sign supporting AFSCME.

The public union is against Governor Scott Walker’s plan to take away most collective bargaining rights for its members.

Bobo didn’t want to take sides, fearing she would offend customers.

“I have customers from all walks of life, “she said. “In a tough economy you need everyone here.”

But apparently that wasn’t good enough for AFSCME Union Rep. Jim Parrett, who sent her a letter that reads in part:

“We’d ask that you reconsider taking a sign and stance to support public employees in this community. Failure to do so will leave us no choice but do a public boycott of your business.”

“It rubbed me the wrong way,” said customer John Charnon.

He and other customers drove out of their way to shop at Village Dollar Thursday. According to Bobo, business tripled because of it.

Even some local AFSCME union members called the threats “thuggish”.

“The statements and threats made by Jim Parrett do not represent everyone in the local, we didn’t support it,” said Paul Baumester, a member of AFSCME, Local 3777.

He and several other union members shook hands with Bobo Thursday afternoon and apologized to her and other businesses for the threats. They claim they were never consulted about the letters.

Baumester says he’s still against Governor Walker’s budget proposals, but he believes the threats are exactly the wrong thing to do.

“Right when we think we might be making some headway here, we lose ground in the public eye,” he said.

We made several attempts to contact Parrett by phone, but an operator said his voice mail box was full.

And now thanks to his letter, so is Bobo’s dollar store, which now has a sign of its own in the window. It reads, “We support Union Grove, not bully tactics.”

“I want them to have the rights they’re entitled to, but they are not entitled to take mine away,” said Bobo when talking about AFSCME.

The latest lie from the left: Two-thirds of oil and gas leases in Gulf inactive – UPDATED!

Posted by iusbvision on April 1, 2011

The talking point: What do you mean drill for more oil, the oil companies do not want to drill for more oil, they bought the leases and just let them sit there so we will pay Brazil to look for oil there.  [Oh by the way who has a huge money stake in Petro-Brazil? Obama money man and buddy George Soros – Editor]

That entire narrative is a complete scam as you will soon see.

AP:

WASHINGTON – An Interior Department report to be released Tuesday says more than two-thirds of offshore oil and gas leases in the Gulf of Mexico are sitting idle.

According to the report, obtained by The Associated Press, those inactive swaths of the Gulf could potentially hold more than 11 billion barrels of oil and 50 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. The report also shows that 45 percent of all onshore oil and gas leases are inactive.

President Barack Obama ordered the Interior Department review earlier this month amid pressure to curb rising gas prices. The White House says Obama will address his plans for the country’s energy security during a speech in Washington Wednesday.

The first problem is that the permitting process to actually get the permits to drill on the lease take years. The government puts years worth of roadblocks in the permitting process, this complicated by the fact that in each stage of the permitting process that gets approved by the federal government, eco-extremist groups sue to stop it.

Obama instituted an offshore drilling ban as was widely reported. The ban was illegal and a federal judge ordered him to stop. Obama ignored the court order. Then look at what Obama did to the regulations to have a de facto ban anyways. The film below explains how they did it. It will infuriate you.

So here is the situation, the government charges money for the lease and then works with anti-capitalist and eco-extremist groups to prevent that lease from ever getting the permits.

Media Matters is in violation of law in it’s war on Fox News.

Posted by iusbvision on April 1, 2011

File this one under the “How could they be so stupid” category.

Washington Examiner:

Media Matters, the George Soros-backed legion of liberal agit-prop shock troops based in the nation’s capital, has declared war on Fox News, and in the process quite possibly stepped across the line of legality.

David Brock, MM’s founder, was quoted Saturday by Politico promising that his organization is mounting “guerrila warfare and sabotage” against Fox News, which he said “is not a news organization. It is the de facto leader of the GOP, and it is long past time that it is treated as such by the media, elected officials and the public.”

To that end, Brock told Politico that MM will “focus on [News Corp. CEO Rupert] Murdoch and trying to disrupt his commercial interests …” Murdoch is the founder of Fox News and a media titan with newspaper, broadcast, Internet and other media countries around the world.

There is nothing in the Politico article to suggest that Brock, who was paid just under $300,000 in 2009, according to the group’s most recently available tax return, plans to ask the IRS to change his organization’s tax status as a 501(C)(3) tax-exempt educational foundation.

Being a C3 puts MM in the non-profit, non-commercial sector, and it also bars the organzation from participating in partisan political activity. This new, more aggressive stance, however, appears to run directly counter to the government’s requirements for maintaining a C3 tax status.

Since Brock classifies Fox News as the “leader” of the Republican Party, by his own description he is involving his organization in a partisan battle. High-priced K Street lawyers can probably find a federal judge or a sympathetic IRS bureaucrat willing to either look the other way or accept some sort of MM rationale such as that it is merely providing educational information about a partisan group.

But in the IRS application for 501(C)(3) tax-exempt educational foundation status, Section VIII, Question I asks the applicant: “Do you support or oppose candidates in political campaigns in any way? (Emphasis added).

Under Brock’s definition of Fox News, it appears he is setting MM on a course of actively opposing all Republican candidates. Brandon Kiser at The Right Sphere blog argues that this new statement of MM’s mission means it must change its tax status.

Beyond the partisanship issue, explicitly declaring that your purpose as a tax-exempt non-profit public foundation is to interfere with the commercial interests of somebody else’s legal business enterprise falls nowhere within the scope of purely educational activities.

The official purpose of MM, according to its 2009 tax return, is to “notify activists, journalists, pundits and the general public about instances of misinformation, providing them with the resources to rebut false claims and take direct action against offending media institutions.”

At another point much later in the same return, MM’s purpose is more succinctly described as being “dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing and correcting conservative misinformation in the media.”

Besides Brock, who is MM’s CEO, Eric Burns, who is the organization’s president, received just under $260,000 in compensation in 2009. Burns has since left MM to form Bullfight Strategies, a media consulting firm.

EPA Using Tax Dollars for Partisan Advertising

Posted by iusbvision on March 26, 2011

Welcome to Chicago style corruption, just what we warned you about before the election. Just what you on the left denied would happen, is happening.

Via some great reporting at Big Government.com:

Your tax dollars at work…
The EPA is now paying the American Lung Association to attack Republicans:

[Editor’s Note – This is a billboard just a few miles north of where I live attacking Fred Upton. In a crazy ruling by the court, they handed the EPA the power to regulate CO2 as if it were a pollutant. The Constitution says that all lawmaking power rests with the Congress. It is with this “authority” under color of law (fake law) that Obama has instructed the EPA to create a Cap & Trade scheme against the will of Congress and the American people. This is profoundly and expressly unconstitutional and a complete violation of Separation of Powers.

So the Republicans are moving to take this power away. This billboard is Obama’s response. The dishonest narrative is “Republicans want to poison the air and kill this child “. CO2 is what we breath out and what trees and plants breath in, without it we would all starve. Almost any economic activity creates some CO2 so this is an “excuse” to regulate anything and everything by using unelected bureaucrats and ignoring Congress altogether.

This is abuse of power on its face, Democrats know this but just don’t care, and some Republicans are afraid of being accused of wanting to poison the girl on the billboard. The only way to put an end to this is to vote for bold conservative candidates overwhelmingly.]

The ALA put up four billboards like this one near Rep. Fred Upton’s office in Michigan. Upton is the House Energy and Commerce Chairman. (PlowShareGroup)

The Environmental Protection Agency is paying the American Lung Association to run attack ads against Republican members of Congress.

JunkScience.com reported:

“The American Lung Association has targeted House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton for his efforts to stop U.S. EPA from regulating greenhouse gas emissions by placing billboards within sight of his district offices linking climate change with increased childhood asthma,” reports E&E News PM.

But as we reported last week in “EPA owns the American Lung Association,” the EPA has paid the American Lung Association over $20 million in the last ten years, and has paid the ALA many more millions in a symbiotic relationship going back to at least 1990.

The EPA-ALA relationship works something like this: EPA pays the ALA and, in return, the ALA agitates for more stringent EPA air quality regulation, including by lawsuit. Now it’s billboards.

In addition to defunding National Public Radio, the House GOP should look at the EPA’s funding of American Lung Association.

It doesn’t matter that the EPA policies will cause your

Some Democrats will support the Balanced Budget Amendment knowing it will lose to claim “budget hawk” status.

Posted by iusbvision on March 25, 2011

Gregory Hilton previously served as Executive Director of the Conservative Victory Fund; Director of Public Affairs for the National Republican Congressional Committee; and as the Republican National Committee’s liaison to the White House Political Affairs Office during the Reagan Administration. Hilton also wrote a full-page political column for the conservative weekly Human Events. Hilton served as Executive Director of the American Security Council for 23 years and has helped to raise $100 million for non-profit organizations.

Gregory Hilton:

PREDICTION – As part of a debt ceiling deal, my guess is Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will allow a vote on a Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment. It came within one vote of passing in 1997. Under the best case scenario, it would still fail by one vote, and it would allow vulnerable Democrats to claim they are deficit hawks. Some current supporters would flip-flop it it appears the amendment would pass.

Leftist conference of unions, students, legislators and leftist community groups: How we will disrupt capital and create economic uncertainty. How we can create a new financial crisis, bring down the stock market….

Posted by iusbvision on March 22, 2011

UPDATE  – Steven Lerner, the man in the video overtly plotting a new economic crisis, has visited the White House four times as well as the Treasury Department!!!

Steve Lerner SEIU

Watch this video:

Longer tape of this conversation:

Transcript and full article at Business Insider:

CAUGHT ON TAPE: Former SEIU Official Reveals Secret Plan To Destroy JP Morgan, Crash The Stock Market, And Redistribute Wealth In America

A former official of one of the country’s most-powerful unions, SEIU, has a secret plan to “destabilize” the country.

The plan is designed to destroy JP Morgan, nuke the stock market, and weaken Wall Street’s grip on power, thus creating the conditions necessary for a redistribution of wealth and a change in government.

The former SEIU official, Stephen Lerner, spoke in a closed session at a Pace University forum last weekend.

UPDATE I – Glenn Beck: This is a clear case of economic terrorism – LINK.

UPDATE II – SEIU sued under RICO statute (Via The Blaze):

Cockroaches, bugs, mold, and flies. These are just some of the props and rumors allegedly employed by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) against the American unit of French catering company Sodexo. And the company’s had enough.

Fed up with tactics that include intimidation, extortion, and yes, sabotage that apparently includes plastic cockroaches, Sodexo filed a lawsuit against the SEIU last week under the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.

“We work constructively with unions every day but the SEIU has crossed the line by breaking the law,” Robert Stern, general counsel for Sodexo USA, said in a statement. “We will not tolerate the SEIU’s tactics any longer.”

SEIU has been fighting to represent 80,000 hourly Sodexo employees, which is above and beyond the 180,000 hourly employees who are already union members. The union regularly stages protests against the company to make its point, like this one last fall on the campus of George Mason University. The video alleges SEIU bused in protesters, who can be heard chanting, among other things, “As long as it takes, whatever it takes, we’ll be in your face!”

Sodexo’s complaint, filed in federal court in Alexandria, VA, alleges acts of SEIU blackmail, vandalism, trespass, harassment, and lobbying law violations designed to steer business away from, and harm, the company.

And just what exactly might those acts look like? Sodexo gives the details:

The complaint alleges that the SEIU, in face to face meetings, threatened Sodexo USA’s executives that it would harm Sodexo USA’s business unless they gave in to the union, and then carried out its threats through egregious behavior, including:

  • throwing plastic roaches onto food being served by Sodexo USA at a high profile event;
  • scaring hospital patients by insinuating that Sodexo USA food contained bugs, rat droppings, mold and flies;
  • lying to interfere with Sodexo USA business and sneaking into elementary schools to avoid security;
  • violating lobbying laws to steer business away from Sodexo USA, even at the risk of costing Sodexo USA employees their jobs; and
  • harassing Sodexo USA employees by threatening to accuse them of wrongdoing.

The complaint, filed in federal court in the Eastern District of Virginia, seeks an injunction against the SEIU and its locals and executives, as well as monetary damages to be determined by the court.

Obama’s illegal offshore drilling moratorium explained. This will infuriate you. UPDATE – Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Confirms: Democrat Energy Policy is To Push For Less Energy and More Deficit Spending

Posted by iusbvision on March 18, 2011

In 2012, the only way someone can vote for Obama in good conscience is by ignorance.

This is an administration that does not act in good faith.

UPDATE I –  Listen for yourself all:

Democrat energy policy: Less drilling, more deficit spending. Pinheads like Debbie Schultz have said that there would be “no immediate” new oil if we started drilling today is cute, but they have been saying that for 20 years. Now if we started more drilling back then, or even five years ago it would be an entirely different story.  By the way Obama’s illegal drilling ban has already cost many thousands of jobs.

If I start digging a well, it will not immediately result in more water, so lets all have massive thirst. If you start your car, it will not immediately result in you being at work, so lets ban cars and have trains….

Someone is voting for these idiots.

NOTE – If Sarah Palin had uttered the shear nonsense that Schultz puts out on a regular basis it would be the headline almost every other night on the news.

Schultz has been making these kind of orbital statements for a long time. I think it is time for Rush Limbaugh to start giving her a little of what the Democrats need right now:

Republicans Find Multi-Billion Dollar Slush Funds Hidden in ObamaCare Bill – UPDATE: PolitiFact, FactCheck, WashPo Fact Checker, Heritage say Bachmann is Right

Posted by iusbvision on March 9, 2011

So what about those CBO numbers again far left?

$105 billion hidden in the bill so that the GOP could never cut off funds for it, a $16 Billion slush fund, and unlimited budgetary authority to bail out state insurance pools. None of it known, none of it counted by the CBO and much of it unconstitutional.

Now you know why Nancy Pelosi had to say this:

UPDATE I – Michele Bachmann speaks.

The liberal media has been attacking my work to expose the truth about Obamacare. But all the major political fact-checking outlets–PolitiFact, FactCheck and the Washington Post Fact Checker–agree: the $105 billion hidden in Obamacare does exist! Get the facts: http://bit.ly/ggdOtv .

Heritage Foundation:

Today former Congressman Ernest Istook testified before the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee about the $105 billion slush fund in advance appropriations liberals tucked inside Obamacare. The $105 billion bypasses the traditional yearly budgeting process and is spread throughout the 2,700 page legislation. It took the Congressional Research Service (CRS) seven months to identify all the disparate funds and it was not until February (11 months after the bill passed) that all of the funds could be totaled up.

Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) has been beating the drum to raise awareness of this unprecedented level of advance spending. But the liberal media has been attacking her for calling it “hidden” funding. In reality, Rep. Bachmann said that “practically no Member of Congress even knew that $105 billion of funding was” in the bill.FactCheck says that this funding was known to “those who read the bill … including members of Congress.” But does FactCheck really believe that any member of Congress read all 2,700 pages of the bill? Do they have any evidence at all that any member of Congress knew about the $105 billion figure before CRS published their report this February?

But more importantly, in their attempted take down of Rep. Bachmann, PolitiFactFactCheck, and The Washington Post Fact Checker all confirm her underlying charge: the $105 billion exists. Poltifact writes: “We added up the spending Bachmann was referring to and got $104 billion — very close to her number.”

And a note to The Washington Post Fact Checker: Former Congressman Ernest Istook served in the House of Representatives, not the Senate.

WikiLeaks cables reveal how US manipulated climate accord

Posted by iusbvision on January 3, 2011

But wait, I thought global warming was about open dialogue, tolerance for scientific skepticism, and all those cosey academic principles that are taught in science classes? Save the world, kumbaya …or not. It seems that the government is using outrageous pressure tactics to gain consensus, just like far left climate scientists do.

Guardian UK:

Embassy dispatches show America used spying, threats and promises of aid to get support for Copenhagen accord

Hidden behind the save-the-world rhetoric of the global climate change negotiations lies the mucky realpolitik: money and threats buy political support; spying and cyberwarfare are used to seek out leverage.

The US diplomatic cables reveal how the US seeks dirt on nations opposed to its approach to tackling global warming; how financial and other aid is used by countries to gain political backing; how distrust, broken promises and creative accounting dog negotiations; and how the US mounted a secret global diplomatic offensive to overwhelm opposition to the controversial “Copenhagen accord“, the unofficial document that emerged from the ruins of the Copenhagen climate change summit in 2009.

Negotiating a climate treaty is a high-stakes game, not just because of the danger warming poses to civilisation but also because re-engineering the global economy to a low-carbon model will see the flow of billions of dollars redirected.

Seeking negotiating chips, the US state department sent a secret cable on 31 July 2009 seeking human intelligence from UN diplomats across a range of issues, including climate change. The request originated with the CIA. As well as countries’ negotiating positions for Copenhagen, diplomats were asked to provide evidence of UN environmental “treaty circumvention” and deals between nations.

But intelligence gathering was not just one way. On 19 June 2009, the state department sent a cable detailing a “spear phishing” attack on the office of the US climate change envoy, Todd Stern, while talks with China on emissions took place in Beijing. Five people received emails, personalised to look as though they came from the National Journal. An attached file contained malicious code that would give complete control of the recipient’s computer to a hacker. While the attack was unsuccessful, the department’s cyber threat analysis division noted: “It is probable intrusion attempts such as this will persist.”

• Read more about how the US cajolled other countries into supporting the Copenhagen Accord.

Obama to Enact Cap & Trade Even Though Congress Told Him No

Posted by iusbvision on December 28, 2010

This isn’t the only thing he is doing on his own. He is also enacting several parts of the health care law through regulation that the Senate told him no on as well.

As Obama has said himself that Cap & Trade will “necessarily make the cost of electricity skyrocket”:

This is the problem that occurs when Congress grants federal bureaucracy such wide regulatory power to enact as they see fit. The bureaucrats get such wide power to enact law through regulation that they in effect become, as Justice Scalia once described as, “a junior varsity Congress” that can pass laws that are even against the will of Congress and the people. This action takes the entire purpose of Separation of Powers in the Constitution and tosses it right out the window. While Congress does have some minor delegable authority under the Necessary and Proper clause in no way did the Founders ever intend to have a situation where all three branches of government are legislating on their own and against the will of the people.

This action shows that the Obama administration and some of the Democratic leadership have nothing but utter contempt for the overwhelming expressed will of the American people.

The Republicans in the House will have to defund the EPA or take some similar action to stop this, which means that there will be war between the new House Republicans, Obama and the Democrats.

The strategy for Obama and the Democrats will be to shut down the government unless the new Republicans in the House vote to fund ObamaCare, the reinserted “death panel” regulations and Cap & Trade. If the government gets shut down the elite media and the Democrats will blame Republicans for shutting down the government. If the new Republicans capitulate Democrats will call them a bunch of frauds come election time and say “see your Tea Party folks voted for all the same big government stuff the Democrats did”.

The Tea Party and the GOP need to get way ahead on this and prepare the American people for a fight.

Politico:

The Obama administration is expected to roll out a major greenhouse gas policy for power plants and refineries as soon as Wednesday, signaling it won’t back off its push to fight climate change in the face of mounting opposition on Capitol Hill.

The Environmental Protection Agency has agreed to a schedule for setting greenhouse gas emission limits, known as “performance standards,” for the nation’s two biggest carbon-emitting industries, POLITICO has learned.

Under the schedule agreed to by EPA, states and environmental groups, the agency will issue a draft greenhouse gas performance standard for power plants by July 2011 and a final rule by May 2012. The agreement – which comes after states and environmentalists challenged the George W. Bush administration’s failure to set the standards – requires EPA to issue a draft limit for refineries by Dec. 2011 and a final rule by Nov. 2012.

The White House Office of Management and Budget has signed off on the schedule, according to a litigant in the legal fight.

Univ of Maryland survey on Fox News makes us ponder who is more dishonest, leftist academics or elite media journalists – UPDATED

Posted by Chuck Norton on December 18, 2010

First the news, then the analysis… [and see the update below!]

UPDATE IV Breaking! – Famed Economist Dr. John Lott dissects fraudulent University of Maryland “study” on Fox News

Via The Blaze

The University of Maryland released a study claiming that regular viewers of Fox News are the “most misinformed” when it comes to knowledge of American politics.

The UMD-commissioned study — “Misinformation and the 2010 Election: A Study of the US Electorate” — looked to judge how likely viewers of various news outlets were to believe false information (note: the study did not actually measure any sort of actual misinformation presented by some media outlets). According to the study, Fox viewers were “significantly more likely” to believe the following “misinformation”:

–Most economists estimate the stimulus caused job losses (12 points more likely)

–Most economists have estimated the health care law will worsen the deficit (31 points)

–The economy is getting worse (26 points)

–Most scientists do not agree that climate change is occurring (30 points)

–The stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts (14 points)

–Their own income taxes have gone up (14 points)

–The auto bailout only occurred under Obama (13 points)

–When TARP came up for a vote most Republicans opposed it (12 points)

–And that it is not clear that Obama was born in the United States (31 points)

FNC has since fired back at the report, defending the content of its broadcasts and judgment of its viewers while simultaneously dismissing the study and its conclusions.  Via the New York Times:

In a statement, Michael Clemente, who is the senior vice president of news editorial for the network, said: “The latest Princeton Review ranked the University of Maryland among the top schools for having ‘Students Who Study The Least’ and being the ‘Best Party School’ – given these fine academic distinctions, we’ll regard the study with the same level of veracity it was ‘researched’ with.”

Mr. Clemente oversees every hour of objective news programming on Fox News, which is by far the nation’s most popular cable news channel.

For the record, the Princeton Review says the University of Maryland ranks among the “Best Northeastern Colleges.” It was No. 19 on the Review’s list of “Best Party Schools.”

I am going to show you the depths of planning that these academics had to go through to get these results. Before we do that let us examine what a REAL polling and survey research organization like the Pew Research Center  (2) has to say.

According to Pew the most informed newspaper readers are those who read the Wall Street Journal. The most informed radio listeners are those who listen to Rush Limbaugh. And this year the most informed television viewers were the audience of Sean Hannity.

Asked a series of four questions to test their knowledge about politics and current events, just 14% of the public got all four correct – as many got all four wrong (15%). Two-in-ten got three correct, 26% two and 25% one. Regular readers, viewers or listeners of most media sources outscored the general public.

People were asked which party currently controls the House of Representatives  (Democrats), to identify the post held by Eric Holder (U.S. attorney general), which company is run by Steve Jobs (Apple) and which country has an active volcano that disrupted international air travel earlier this year (Iceland).

Overall, seven-in-ten Americans know that Democrats have a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. No media audience did poorly on this question, and 90% or more of the Hannity, Limbaugh and O’Reilly audiences got this right.

Far fewer know that Eric Holder is the attorney general. Just 22% got this question right. Wall Street Journal readers and Hannity viewers performed best on this question, with 56% of each audience answering it correctly.

About four-in-ten (41%) know that Steve Jobs is the head of Apple. Wall Street Journal (85%) and New York Times (80%) readers are especially likely to know this. Six-in-ten know that the volcanic eruption that recently disrupted international air travel is in Iceland. Journal (82% correct) and Times (81%) readers also did especially well on this question.

Examining the bogus Univ of Maryland survey –

Most economists estimate the stimulus caused job losses (12 points more likely)

OK lets tackle this one. We know that the stimulus according to an analysis by the Federal Reserve created almost exclusively temporary jobs and some government jobs at an average cost of 400,000 per job. It was promised that unemployment would not rise above 8% if the stimulus was passed and yet it went to 10%, and over 17% if you use normal methods and not the government formula. The stimulus which failed resulted in added uncertainty in the economy which undoubtedly cost jobs. If that money had been used as tax cuts it would have helped create jobs. But the question here is “most economists”.

Most people know what an issue is and might not know what a specific group thinks about it. For example: “Most economists” did not see the mortgage collapse coming. “Most economists” thought that the stimulus package would help much more than it did, “most economists” were surprised by month after month of unexpected, unexpected, unexpected, unexpected bad economic news. “Most economists” have a very poor record of predictions as any examination of government projections shows that most of them are not just wrong, but not even close, because they almost exclusively use static Keynesian models.

This  also depends on what group of economists you ask and if most of that group were to agree on the question.Fox News does not bring on much Keynesian economic ‘talent’. Most economists and financial analysts that appear on Fox are either Austrian School, or followers of Hayek, Friedman, or a mix like Mankiw. These are people whose predictions come true far more than the ones that the AP or Reuters use.

Fox News analysts mostly said that the stimulus wouldn’t work, “most economists” that appeared in the elite media said the opposite, look who ended up being right. The same can be said about the opening affects of ObamaCare, the flat-lining of the economy due to uncertainty etc etc.

It would be fair to say that most of the economists that the viewers have been exposed to might feel the way the respondents answered and if that is the case the answers makes perfect sense and by no means makes them ignorant people.

[It only makes sense that if you poll a group about a subset of people that they are least exposed to that they would get more incorrect answers about that particular subset.- Editor]

Most economists have estimated the health care law will worsen the deficit (31 points)

Again according to “most economists” that like static Keynesian models that do not take into account game theory or what is known as the “adverse selection spiral”, then I could see the Univ of Maryland’s point. But the problem is that even Obama’s own Medicare Actuary agrees with conservative economists and have said that it will raise costs. So far the analysts at Fox have been more accurate on the opening effects of ObamaCare [We have been cataloging the statements of people on both sides of this debate if anyone doubts it I will be happy to start producing the quotes, but most of them are already published on this web site so be sure to see our “Health Law” category – Editor]. Remember what we told you above, most economists of what group of economists surveyed? If I surveyed Austrian School economists how would most of them have answered?

– The economy is getting worse (26 points)

I found this one to be pretty amusing. Some indicators go up in a month and some go down. This question greatly depends on who you ask and/or what indicator you wish to look at. The Keynesian economic growth formula can be artificially inflated with government deficit spending. Since government spending in the Keynesian formula is treated the same as consumer spending and investment spending all the government has to do is take out a loan or print up cash and whaaalla – instant short term economic growth.

Even with an artificially inflated growth rate of 1-1.5% the truth is that we need REAL private sector economic growth of over 1.5% just to break even with people coming of age and entering the workforce. They may call the inflated 1.5% government economic growth number an improving economy, but in economic reality we are still taking on water. Fox viewers know this. Elite media viewers have been told every month for almost two years (up until August/September) that things were getting better and “summer of recovery” etc.

– Most scientists do not agree that climate change is occurring (30 points)

This one really got me to laugh. All scientists agree that climate change is occurring. Climate is always changing, the question is what is changing, how, and does man have much to do with it. In that regard there are growing numbers of scientists and people that reject AGW alarmism.

–The stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts (14 points)

The keyword here is ANY. Every Democrat package has targeted tax cuts. Tax cuts that are so targeted it means you don’t get them. A tax cut if you outfit your home in solar panels and other green tax breaks etc. They did pass a payroll schedule reduction, but that was just a reduction in the deduction tables, the tax rate you pay was the same so come April 15th you had to pay more or get a smaller refund.

–Their own income taxes have gone up (14 points)

This depends on how it is measured. Remember those changes in the deduction tables we mentioned. Well those who have started doing their taxes are writing bigger checks or getting smaller refunds as a result, so they think that their taxes are going up.

–When TARP came up for a vote most Republicans opposed it (12 points)

Where Univ of Maryland…. in the House or in the Senate? Most Republicans in the House did oppose it. Here is the final vote in the House on TARP I – http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2008-681 with 91 Republicans for and 108 against. Here is Tarp II – http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2009-26 with 19 voting for and 156 voting against. It would seem that Univ of Maryland only looked at the Senate vote.

–And that it is not clear that Obama was born in the United States (31 points)

Again this depends on how it was asked. Do I believe that Obama was born in the United States? Yes I do because I saw the newspaper announcement and that seems like pretty good evidence. Is it CLEAR that he was? That depends, some of his own relatives say he was born in Kenya so why isn’t it clear to them? Some may believe that he was born here but are not completely CLEAR because he has not released his long form birth certificate. The question in this regard is so vague that it is useless for scientific purposes. Clearness implies transparency and Obama has not delivered on that. As far as I know no host or anchor at Fox has pushed a story and claimed that Obama is not a citizen. The study doesn’t show us that this every happened on Fox.

It is because of the vagueness and the nature of the questions that this survey could never withstand the peer review process and was just released as it was. The ideas of being asked about what a subset of a group of people think (like the “most economists” question) would be laughed at. It is better and more scientific to ask direct questions about issues, not what they think some subset might think of them.

This is exactly why far left journalists aren’t trusted by people because of spin that becomes dishonest, just like this “survey”. If you think this scholarship is shoddy, wait till you see the status of climate science.

UPDATE I – Flashback 2007 – Rasmussen Poll:

Democrats in America are evenly divided on the question of whether George W. Bush knew about the 9/11 terrorist attacks in advance. Thirty-five percent (35%) of Democrats believe he did know, 39% say he did not know, and 26% are not sure. Republicans reject that view and, by a 7-to-1 margin, say the President did not know in advance about the attacks. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 18% believe the President knew and 57% take the opposite view.

If I worked for the University of Maryland I would present it this way:

Democrats are twice as likely to be misinformed conspiracy theorists (35%) than the populace at large (18%) with 26% of Democrats not sure how misinformed they are. Republicans, most of whom watch Fox News, reject such uninformed views 7-1. On knowledge of great historical events Fox News viewers are far more informed than Democrats who watch CNN or MSNBC.

UPDATE II Big Journalism reports that money for the study came from the Tides Foudation and George Soros. Of course to the informed that is no surprise whatsoever.

It is a big problem with medical academics being paid to conduct studies and writings with a predetermined conclusion. Sometimes the writings are pre-written and the academic just puts his name to it for a check. Then we found out about the millions that eco-groups, Marxist groups, George Soros/Tides, alternative energy companies, governments, and investment banks like Goldman Sachs (they want to trade the carbon and get a fee for each trade) have been pumping billions into alarmist scholarship propaganda. Now this.

UPDATE III – “How the World Works” tests claims from the “study” and the University of Maryland Study assumes that SOME government claims about the stimulus etc are gospel. They did not actually go out and survey economists. But when you look at the actual government report that the Maryland Study cites (a CBO report) the report admits that economists it used were in conflict about the multiplier/job effect:

Associated Press Article on Palin Haiti Trip a Series of Lies

Posted by iusbvision on December 14, 2010

The AP is on a tear lately with the false narratives and attacks. This is the status of what Palin called the “lamestream media” and it makes you wonder if a one of these reporters actually went to J-school.

A suggestive AP photo started this false narrative – Huffington Post Blasts Sarah Palin for Getting “Movie Set” Treatment in Haiti – Secret Hair Stylist Ends Up Being Daughter Bristol

Then ABC played editing games with Sarah Palin’s interview with Barbara Walters –ABC Edits Out Substantive Parts of Sarah Palin’s Answer on What She Reads

Now this via the nice folks at US4P:

The Associated Press provided another example as to why the media cannot be trusted to cover anything Governor Palin does fairly. AP “reporter” Jonathan Katz, wrote an article about the governor’s recent trip to Haiti with Franklin Graham and Samaritan’s Purse. Katz opens his article by saying:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin began a tightly stage-managed visit to Haiti on Saturday in which she visited cholera clinics while avoiding crowds and the press.

“Stage-managed” eh? As to imply that this is just some sort of staged political photo-op, no doubt. It wasn’t, but regardless it is not Jonathan Katz’ job as an AP reporter to make that assumption in the first place.

He then goes on to say (emphasis mine):

Palin, who traveled in part by helicopter, provided access on her tour solely to the U.S. cable network Fox News.

Graham’s organization, Samaritan’s Purse, refused to discuss Palin’s itinerary with other media and asked Haitian and American reporters to leave its compounds, citing a “security lockdown.”

It should be noted that Greta Van Susteren was asked by Franklin Graham (this is not the first time Greta has accompanied Graham on an overseas trip) to come to Haiti, it wasn’t Governor Palin who set that up.

Rebecca Mansour weighed in on Twitter to say:

Jonathan Katz of the Associated Press is a liar. He knows very well that Samaritan’s Purse was in charge of press in Haiti, not Gov. Palin.

Also

I told him myself repeatedly. He also knows very well that for security reasons, Samaritan’s Purse did not want to release their itinerary.

Katz and others in the media seem to be saying two different things in their articles about Governor Palin’s trip to Haiti. They imply it was a photo-op on one hand, then complain about a lack of access on the other. So which is it? I gather this is just more, ‘throw the kitchen sink‘ at Governor Palin to see what sticks.

Jonathan Katz then writes:

Associated Press television journalists saw Palin talking with foreign aid workers. She wore cargo pants, a T-shirt and designer sunglasses on her first trip outside the United States since speaking to investors in Hong Kong last year. That speech was also closed to the media.

Why is JonathanKatz reporting on Governor’s Palin’s wardrobe? The last time I checked, Katz wasn’t a fashion reporter. Who cares what Governor Palin wore on a humanitarian mission? Some might say that it was sexist of Katz to include that in his article. I’ll leave that up to readers to decide for themselves.

By the way, as Ian noted earlier, Governor Palin and Franklin Graham held a press conference on Sunday in Haiti from the Samaritan’s Purse camp. So, no this trip was not closed to the media. You can see a photo from that presser here.

Update: I was just reminded that the Hong Kong speech was not closed to the media. Katz was wrong about that as well. The Wall Street Journal covered the Hong Kong event here.

Huffington Post Blasts Sarah Palin for Getting “Movie Set” Treatment in Haiti – Secret Hair Stylist Ends Up Being Daughter Bristol

Posted by iusbvision on December 13, 2010

I just laugh when I see Arianna Huffington claim that her smear site is America’s internet newspaper with “real journalism”.

The Huffington Post blasts Sarah Palin almost every day and almost every the narrative the present is nothing short of Orwellian.

The following is just one example of many. When the Republic of Georgia (on Russia’s southern border) was considering applying for NATO membership. ABC’s John Gibson asked Governor Palin if she supported Georgia’s entry into NATO and Governor Palin articulated the same position that Obama, McCain, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton held on the issue. The Senate even passed a unanimous resolution calling for Georgia’s entry into NATO. Yet when Palin answered that Georgia should be admitted and explained that NATO by treaty is a mutual defense pact; the Huffington Post reacted with the headline, “Palin Talks About Invading Russia” – LINK.

Today’s Huffington Post:

Palin Does Haiti Cholera: How’s My Hair? (and, Did AP Lend a Curl?)

If I find the fantastically clever Sarah Palin to be one of the shallowest and blatantly self-serving politicians, err, political celebrities I’ve ever seen, it doesn’t stop me from taking pause upon seeing these AP shots from Franklin Graham’s cholera treatment center in Haiti.

Damn right it’s revolting seeing Sarah getting her hair made up like this field hospital is her movie set …

This is what Arianna calls “real journalism”. “Sarah getting her hair made up like this field hospital is her movie set”. The narrative complete with attitude implies that Sarah is vain and only cares about how she will look on TV when she is surrounded by suffering. The reality is that the woman next to Sarah is not some high paid makeup artist, rather it is her daughter Bristol who just took a moment to fix a spot on her mother’s hair.

It is amazing how much emotionalism, intent and action a hater can add into a picture’s narrative in spite of the fact that there is no truth whatsoever to what the hater’s mind created.

Notice the AP leaves out "At left is daughter Bristol" - that was no accident folks, these reporters followed the Palin's on their entire trip. This is the AP's way of making Palin appear vain and is also yet another sexist slap. The Huffington Post fell for that narrative hook, line & sinker. This is a fine example of what is called "Attitude Change Propaganda" or ACP. ACP is designed to infuse the reader with a negative feeling by implying a false narrative by using careful ommission of facts presented with an attitude.

Rep Bachmann: Obama flat out lies in his statements

Posted by iusbvision on December 12, 2010

RightScoop has the video.

Bachmann:

He said for instance…that Republicans want to end middle class tax cuts. I thought ‘are you kidding me? The Republicans want to end middle class tax cuts?’ He said that it’s his job to grow the economy. He made one kinda odd statement after the other. And he said Republicans oppose various credits for the middle class. Those are flat-out lies!

The truth is that Democrats are not interested in taxing the wealthy and in recent years never have. Most of the very wealthy enjoy a 16,000 page tax code that is filled with exceptions. Much of the income for the truly wealthy is defines as non wage earnings, meaning that they are non taxable or taxable under a much lower rate. This is why John Kerry, who also wants to raise your taxes, paid only 12.34% federal tax on his $5,0072,000 he made in 2003.

The wealthy also have the option of just parking their money in a tax deferred growth account or some other shelter, buy gold, or just invest in China. Remember that it can only ba taxed when the money is moved. They have the option of simply not moving it, small businesses don’t have that option.

So while Google who earned 3.1 Billion dollars last year paid 2.4% tax they throw gala fund-raising events for Obama and give mega-bucks to the Democrats. In the mean time the small business Sub-S corporations (pizza shops, small manufacturing businesses, construction etc)  who also pay in this tax rate are facing a new rate of 39.6%. Obama demonized the Chamber of Commerce most of the last year and who do they represent… you guessed it, most small business. Small businesses such as a small roofing manufacturer may bring in over $250,000 on paper, the simple truth is that most of that money is put back in the business. The small business owner, employer, risk taker has to pay everyone else first, the bills and the taxes all before he pays himself.

This brings us to Norton’s First Law: Big business loves big government because big government taxes and regulates the small to medium sized competition out of the competition.

The left and the elite media says that continuing current tax rates will cost the government half a trillion dollars. This is nonsense because the government increases its revenue when people move their money and when the economy grows, not when it jacks the rates up. The half a trillion dollars figure is an inflated Keynesian static model, the same static model that underestimated the 20 year cost of Medicare by a factor of 10 and the same kind of static Keynesian model that predicted that the Obama Stimulus would keep unemployment below 8%.

Always remember, figues don’t lie but liars figure.

How Media Bias Works: The Miami Herald Undermines Marco Rubio

Posted by iusbvision on November 23, 2010

How is it that the big networks and many large newspapers always quote “experts” that constantly reinforce false elite media narratives?

The answer is, because that is exactly what most journalists are trained to do in J-school. “What is that Chuck, are you saying that most journalists are taught to manipulate the public instead of making the public as best informed as they can”? That is exactly what I am saying and I know this all too well as I just finished my communications degree from Indiana University. I graduated with honors.

The journalistic philosophy taught in most J-schools is the “Walter Lippmann Objective Method”, but there is nothing objective about it. Lippmann’s method was to have the media use an elite technical class of “experts” to tell the public what they needed to hear in order to vote the “right way”. Anyone who has read Walter Lippmann’s book Public Opinion comes to understand very quickly the contempt he has for popular sovereignty and self auto-determination. Fortunately I had one communications professor who thought that Lippmann’s philosophy was nonsense, I had an English professor who thought so as well. Not every student is so lucky.

The method used to present you these experts is dishonest from the get-go. The journalist has an idea of the storyline or narrative he wishes to present. So he goes through his Rolodex and finds a person that can be portrayed as an expert who will (big time scare quotes here)independently verify and present the point of view the reporter intended to present in the first place.

Often times a reporter will run across a “man on the street” who just happens to totally and convincingly reinforce the narrative you usually see in the elite media. The implication was that the reporter just started talking to people on the street and wow isn’t the media in touch with “regular folks”. The truth is that the “independent regular person found on the street” knows the reporter would be there well in advance. I remember one study I saw a few years ago where the same person was in a dozen random man on the street interviews.

CNN was caught doing just this in a presidential debate where every “random audience person” ended up being a Democrat campaign operative, several of  whom had previously appeared on CNN – LINK.

The media bias in this example is from the Miami Herald. Of course the “Republican” who can always be counted on to trash conservatives in the elite media, David Frum, picked up on this right away as it goes along with his “conservatives are knuckle dragging neanderthals” narrative:

WASHINGTON — When a French TV station set out to understand the American phenomenon known as the tea party, it sent a reporter to Florida, down a dusty country road, past a bug-swarmed pond, and into a Pasco County pasture filled with people waving American flags.

It was Oct. 30, three days before Election Day. The crowd had come to Hallelujah Acres Ranch to hear Republican Senate nominee Marco Rubio, frequently hailed — and claimed — as one of the tea party’s biggest success stories.

But the typically unflappable candidate seemed uncomfortable with the French reporter’s questions about his tea party ties, as he did when an admirer asked him to autograph a tea party banner.

If the tea party is expecting Rubio to plant its yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” flag in the hallowed Senate chamber, it’s in for a letdown. This career politician who once carried the state party’s American Express card defines himself first and foremost as a Republican.

Rubio’s pollster, Whit Ayers, tactfully put it this way: “I think he’ll carry the banner for hopeful and optimistic conservatism and whoever wants to follow that banner is welcome to join.”

PARTY LOYALTY

Rubio has already made it clear that he will not be a rogue senator. One day after the election, he declared his support for the GOP establishment when he said he looked forward to serving under Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. He didn’t mention Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, viewed as the more ideologically pure conservative and alternative power center, who championed Rubio’s campaign early on.

Two days later, McConnell tapped Rubio to deliver the weekly GOP address.

Rubio, 39, struck a pragmatic tone at the post-election news conference held in Miami, saying Republicans and Democrats have to work together to tackle big, immediate problems like the national debt and the war in Afghanistan. He did not launch salvos at President Barack Obama, as he usually does, and said he would reach out to Florida’s Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.

“Early on in the primary, a conservative group of passionate, well-intentioned people coincided with his beliefs and somehow he got this tea party label, which I don’t think is totally representative,” said Republican fundraiser Jorge Arrizurieta.

“Did he embrace and receive the support of the tea party? Absolutely,” Arrizurieta said. “But will he move away from being a real Republican candidate? No way.”

Tea party leaders still claim Rubio as their own. Among Florida voters, 39 percent said they supported the tea party movement. Rubio got 86 percent of that group.

What you see used here are classic advertising association techniques to try and drive a wedge between Rubio and voters. As you will see the Miami Herald creates this narrative using no real information to imply that Rubio was all talk and he is just another country club Republican that got tossed out of office in 2006.

If the tea party is expecting Rubio to plant its yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” flag in the hallowed Senate chamber, it’s in for a letdown. This career politician who once carried the state party’s American Express card defines himself first and foremost as a Republican.

While the old “Don’t tread on me” flag from the American Revolution can be seen at some Tea Party events; neither Jim DeMint, Dick Army or Michele Bachmann keep that flag in their office. They fly the American flag just like everyone else. The American Express card crack is another advertising associative technique. We see the commercial on TV and they give the impression that if you have an AMEX card you are “somebody”; well the Marlboro man does the same thing but just from another cultural angle. Heck I am dirt poor and I have had a big corporate AMEX card before. It means nothing. Over half of the country supports the Tea Party movement, are we to think that none of them have an American Express?

Rubio has already made it clear that he will not be a rogue senator. One day after the election, he declared his support for the GOP establishment when he said he looked forward to serving under Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. He didn’t mention Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, viewed as the more ideologically pure conservative and alternative power center, who championed Rubio’s campaign early on.

Again this narrative is pure nonsense. DeMint is not in the official leadership so Rubio saying that he would anticipate serving under DeMint would be unnecessarily divisive. That is not how things are done in Washington and that is not how DeMint and the Tea Party want things done. DeMint and the Tea Party have made an effective Tea Party Caucus that can effectively control the GOP with shear numbers. Do we see Marco Rubio moving to the old 2006 GOP positions that got the party kicked out of power or do we see Senator McConnell changing his positions to conform with DeMint, Rubio, Johnson, Kirk, Coats , Toomey etc. The few who are left in the old GOP leadership are racing to get in line with DeMint and his new freshman Senators.

“Early on in the primary, a conservative group of passionate, well-intentioned people coincided with his beliefs and somehow he got this tea party label, which I don’t think is totally representative,” said Republican fundraiser Jorge Arrizurieta.

Ohh it just happened that some of Rubio’s beliefs coincided with some in the Tea Party…. umm no. Rubio was in peoples face with the same narrative of the Tea Party and made it very clear that the GOP is been given a second chance, but is on probation and had better start governing as they campaign. In fact, Rubio was so eloquent in presenting the Tea Party narrative that the Democrat Party tried to get the Democrat in the race to drop out and support the big government RINO Charlie Crist. Here is a small sample of why the Democrats are scared to death of Marco and why we can expect more dishonest propaganda from the Miami Herald:

Last but not least, the talking head Jorge Arrizurieta. Who is this guy? Well he is a corporate lobbyist and minor fund raiser for the early Bush machine including Jeb Bush in Florida, so you can be sure he is in reporter’s rolodex.   Arrizurieta now supports Mitt Romney who the Tea Party doesn’t trust because of the failure of “RomneyCare” in Massachusetts, and his election year flip flops on abortion and other key issues. It seems that Romney has grown up some since losing the primary against John McCain, but we will see.

So as you can see, the Miami Herald made an emotionally convincing narrative out of nothing but cracks about flags, AMEX cards, not trying to run DeMint for party leader and a crack from a minor lobbyist. They started in just a few days after the election and such the Miami Herald’s push to get Obama re-elected has begun. The best way to combat this nonsense is to get in the media’s face with a little New Jersey style attitude and a little teaching like you have found in this post.

MSNBC Talker Calls Sarah Palin an “ASS”…

Posted by iusbvision on November 19, 2010

…and manages to get the only “factoid” she presented totally wrong. Video via The Blaze.

[blip.tv http://blip.tv/play/hJNRgo39IgI%2Em4v%5D

This is one reason why so few on the left are willing to go on Fox News or enter a setting where they will actually have to debate informed people.

You will notice in the video that random MSNBC talker, who is really no different than most MSNBC talkers, states that when Sarah Palin was asked who her favorite Founder was that she could not name one. This is a lie that many of the far left web sites have embraced such as Media Matters, News Hounds, The Young Turks, Huffintgon Post and the list goes on. They post the video and leave off her answer so it looks like she could not name one. Others just posted a long video of the interview while claiming she was “stumped” and simply counted on people not hanging around to watch her complete answer.

This is the level of dishonesty that the far left engages in regularly as of late. It reminds me of the whopping lies Joe Donnelly said about Jackie Walorski over the recent election. Certainly MSNBC has the video below, yet they seem happy with the lie. Fortunately MSNBC is such a small operation that they are not an electoral threat to anyone.

The video below shows the entire clip and it clearly shows that Sarah Palin answered “George Washington” complete with an explanation as to why.

I am not surprised that Palin would pick Washington, as most people of strong Christian faith do pick him because Washington’s faith was so strong that his men and many of his enemies believed that he could not be harmed in battle (read the history folks as this is mentioned by many at the time).

I watched the interview where Sarah Palin was asked this question live and even though I am much more familiar with the Founders than the vast majority of Americans, I had trouble answering. The thought of trying to decide who was “better” between Patrick Henry, George Washington, Ben Rush, Sam Adams, Noah Webster and the rest actually left me in horror for a few moments. I know full well that the Founders were truly great men with a special blessing, they are men that I am not qualified to judge. At the first moment the idea of ME picking one Founder over another left me feeling unworthy, among these great men who am I to chose who is best? To me it is like declaring who is better Moses or John the Baptist. Indeed it is the hope of enlightened students to be able to approach the wisdom of Founders who even played a lesser role. Sarah Palin was not resistant to answer this question not because she did not know something about them, rather it is precisely because she does, which her answer clearly demonstrates.

Eventually I settled on Sam Adams as a “favorite”. I did so because the way he carried out his passion and the way he spoke was the closest to me so I feel like I identify with him.

Gov. Chris Christie names names: Rips “Poster Boy” Of Greedy Education Public Sector

Posted by iusbvision on November 12, 2010

As you will be seeing in my upcoming book, many school boards and administrators run our schools as if their primary purpose is to pay them a six figure salary.

Most education spending never gets to benefiting the kids, this is a prime example of why. We need serious education reform now and this includes taking on corrupt public sector unions.

“Let me tell you about the new poster boy for all that’s wrong with the public school system that is being dictated by greed,” Christie said. “This contract is the definition of greed and arrogance.”

“I suspect that the executive county superintendent is going to look very poorly upon someone who is trying to game the system and take from the taxpayers of Parsippany, and by extension, the taxpayers of New Jersey,” the governor added. “If Lee Seitz wants to try to put his greed and his arrogance ahead of the taxpayers of New Jersey, you elected me to stand up to people like Lee Seitz and others across the state, and I will.”

Media Matters Lies About Vote Fraud Reporting – Obama Justice Department Talks Tough While Encouraging Fraud

Posted by iusbvision on November 1, 2010

This is a part of our new last minute Dirty Tricks” category.

Picking on Media Matters is pretty easy as much of the nonsense that they post can be debunked in minutes utilizing a couple of internet searches. Since George Soros gave this bunch a million dollars to smear people I thought it would be fun to go and pick part one of their posts just as a reminder.

So I started reading and laughing at how transparent the lies they post have become. Behold this latest example:

John Fund and Jedediah Bila baselessly suggest Obama wants felons and illegal immigrants to vote rather than soldiers [on Hannity].

Baselessly? Well apparently Media Matters missed it when the  media and think tanks wrote and broadcast about this, but they also missed it when Obama’s own Justice Department commented on the issue!

The Justice Department is not enforcing the MOVE Act and as a result some states decided not to mail out ballots to military members overseas in time for the election. Yet Felons had their ballots hand delivered to them in the jails.

MOVE is the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) act. Nine states failed to get this done while the Dept. of Justice yawns. The military is being disenfranchised from the election. This is an old tactic used by Democrats as Al Gore’s lawyers convinced a Democrat appointed federal judge to agree to toss out all military ballots in Florida in 2001.

Fox News:

Military voters from the land of Lincoln could be shut out of the midterm election after the Justice Department reached an agreement with Illinois that gave the state “a pass” for violating federal election law, an advocacy group warned Monday.

The Justice Department hammered out the court agreement Friday addressing the failure of 35 Illinois counties to send military and overseas absentee ballots 45 days before the election — a requirement of the MOVE Act. The agreement gave voters from six of those counties a few extra days to send back their ballots but did not specifically address the other 29 counties.

Eric Eversole, a former Justice voting section attorney who runs the nonprofit Military Voter Protection Project, told FoxNews.com the deal effectively lets wayward Illinois election officials off the hook and does little to ensure the state’s military voters get their ballots in time.

Investors Business Daily:

The Justice Department, which has been woefully lax in enforcing MOVE and ensuring compliance among a number of states that have missed their deadlines, reached an agreement in court last Friday with 35 Illinois counties that didn’t get their ballots out on time. Six counties got an extension by two or three days to receive and count overseas ballots by Nov. 16.

The other 29 counties essentially got a pass. Justice spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa said these counties already have 14 extra days after the election to count soldiers’ ballots. But if any votes aren’t counted in a timely manner, she said, “we can file a lawsuit.” This is not how soldiers who may get killed not knowing if their votes counted should be treated.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Board of Elections hand-delivers ballots to inmates in Cook County Jail. The board doesn’t even wait for the inmates to apply — it brings the applications with the ballots! More than 2,600 inmates have cast ballots — strikingly similar to the 2,600 soldiers who will likely not receive a ballot for Tuesday’s election.

You see Media Matters that is the Justice Department commenting on the story… But wait there’s MORE!

The Washington Times:

Holder Puts Felons Over Soldiers

The politically charged gang led by Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. is more interested in helping felons vote than in helping the military to vote. Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican, has put a legislative hold on the already troubled nomination of James M. Cole to be deputy attorney general until the attorney general ensures full protection for voting rights of our military (and associated civilian personnel) stationed abroad. The senator is right to raise a ruckus.

Mr. Cornyn co-authored a 2009 law mandating that states mail absentee ballots to military voters at least 45 days before the election. Yet, as former Justice Department lawyer Eric Eversole first reported in The Washington Times last week, the department seems to be encouraging states to apply for waivers so they won’t have to follow that law. More than 17,000 Americans serving overseas were denied the vote in 2008 – but, presumably because military personnel are thought to lean conservative, the liberal Obama administration is in no hurry to correct the situation.

The Justice Department is so unenthusiastic about military voting that its website still lists the old requirement for a shorter 30-day military voting window, rather than the current law mandating 45 days. On the other hand, the Justice Department has no legislative mandate whatsoever to involve itself with helping felons to vote, but its website devotes a large section – 2,314 words – to advising felons how to regain voting privileges.

As confirmed by The Washington Times last week, Justice Department official Rebecca Wertz told a Feb. 1 conference of the National Association of Secretaries of State that the new law’s requirements are somehow open to interpretation. On July 28, an attendee at that conference – heretofore uninterviewed – told The Washington Times that Ms. Wertz’s message was “totally undermining” the law. The earlier reports actually underplayed the effect of Ms. Wertz’s comments. “It was even more pronounced at the meeting,” said the source. “She undermined [the law] right in front of everybody. When I heard what she was saying, I thought: ‘You’ve got to be kidding!’ … It was a clear reversal of roles for Justice to no longer be enforcing the law.”

After looking at the minutes of that conference, Mr. Cornyn responded forcefully. His office confirmed that he did place the hold on Mr. Cole because of the military voting issue. His July 26 letter to Mr. Holder does not actually mention his hold, but its tone was strong stuff.

“The statute does not create any discretion for the Executive Branch to decide whether or not to enforce its legal requirements,” the senator wrote. Ms. Wertz’s comments “fly in the face of the clear statutory language, undermine the provisions in question and jeopardize the voting rights of our men and women in uniform.”

The senator laid out a series of four steps he wants Mr. Holder to take to ensure that states respect the 45-day deadline, including a demand that the Justice Department provide a state-by-state accounting of compliance efforts. The hold on Mr. Cole, reportedly a personal friend of Mr. Holder, is sure to grab the attorney general’s attention. Our troops deserve his respect.

Oh look Media Matters the Justice Department commented on the story again!

The Washington Times did a second editorial on this story HERE.

Starting on October 27th (how is that for late in the game) after seeing some local news outlets and the elite media start to pick up on the story the Justice Department held a press conference announcing that they will get tough with states that do not get ballots out in time (of course this is the opposite message they were on record as having before).

CNN:

Justice Dept. pushes states on new law to protect military voters

The ballots of U.S. military personnel abroad — even those in remote war zones — must be received and counted before the November election results are declared final, the Justice Department’s Civil Rights chief asserted Wednesday.

Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez told reporters his voting rights attorneys have repeatedly gone to court in recent weeks to force states to abide by the 2009 law designed to get ballots to soldiers, Marines, sailors and airmen in time.

The new law, called the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act, requires states to transmit absentee ballots to service members, their families and other overseas citizens at least 45 days before a federal election.

The military ballots were supposed to be out at least 45 days ago but in the last few weeks the Justice Department leaps into action! Ohhh sound so tough right? Ok now read this very carefully:

Four states and one territory were compelled by courts to comply with the law. Wisconsin, New York, New Mexico, Illinois and Guam were ordered to provide ballots, and in most cases required to provide extra days to receive and count the ballots.

Most of the voters (43,000) are from New York. The court order requires New York to wait until November 24 to receive and count absentee ballots to ensure the military votes are tallied.

New York gets an extension to November 24th to count ALL absentee ballots … hello let the ballot stuffing begin. New York is has  highly contested Governor, House and Senate races. It is no secret that New York has issues with absentee ballot fraud – LINKS –  1, 2, 3, 4, 5

But in Illinois when the GOP asked for a similar extension for military ballots only what was the Justice Department position:

However, in Illinois the Republican Party went to court to argue that in some cases it may be necessary for military personnel to cast ballots after Election Day. The Justice Department objected, insisting post-election voting has never been allowed. A federal judge Wednesday denied the GOP request.

So the Justice Department makes deals that allow some areas extra time to mail out the ballots – some deal since they are still no good if they come back late in most states – In New York the Justice Department is all for an extension as long as ALL absentee ballots can be counted late (let the stuffing begin!) – and in Illinois well no, even though military ballots are sent out late the Justice Department says opposes letting them count if they can’t get back in time.

Yup real tough.

And another lie from Media Matters destroyed in mere minutes. It’s so easy. Felons pushed to vote, military screwed, Obama Justice Department helping it along.

The Heritage Foundation also wrote about the issue HERE asking “Why is Obama Letting Non-Citizens Get Away with Voting?”

TV Station “Forgets” to Run O’Donnell 30 Minute Spots….

Posted by iusbvision on November 1, 2010

This is a part of our new last minute Dirty Tricks” category.

County government run TV Station Channel 28 in Delaware claims they “forgot” to run the 30 minute spots Christine O’Donnell bought as her closing argument to Delaware voters.

So let us be clear; O’Donnell bought the 30 minute spots, reminded the TV station about it, promoted it on other media so everyone knew about it and the government owned TV station just forgets to air it….

O’Donnell’s reaction on Twitter:

1 minute until the premiere of our 30 minute feature. Tune in to meet all the heart warming people I’ve met on the campaign trail. Ch. 28

Okay… this is NOT our show! Must be a programming mix up. We will get back to you…

This isn’t our show either! We are told channel 28 “forgot” to air it…both times… even though we paid for the time slot last week.

Dirty politics again? I’d like to think the County run station really did just “forget” even though we reminded them this morning.

This should give people yet another example of what Republicans have deal with regularly when it comes to the corrupt elite media in this country.

You can view O’Donnell’s closing argument at the following link and it is obvious why they didn’t run it; it is good! I feared that it might have been a snoozer but wow was I wrong. You will love it! – http://christine2010.com/we-people

CBS News Reporters On Tape Conspiring to Manufacture a Scandal Against Republican Senate Candidate – Elite Media Nearly Mum…

Posted by iusbvision on November 1, 2010

This is a part of our new last minute Dirty Tricks” category.

This is not the first time the “make it up media” has been caught red handed conspiring to manufacture smears against Republicans to change an election.

CBS News reporters were caught on voice-mail via a phone, that was thought to be shut off, conspiring to invent a scandal by claiming a campaign volunteer is a child molester or manufacturing a violent encounter.

Transcript:

FEMALE REPORTER: That’s up to you because you’re the expert, but that’s what I would do. … I’d wait until you see who showed up because that indicates we already know something.
[Laughter]

[INAUDIBLE]

FEMALE REPORTER: Child molesters…

MALE REPORTER: Oh yeah. … Can you repeat Joe Miller’s, uh, list of people, campaign workers, which one’s the molester?

[INAUDIBLE]

FEMALE VOICE: We know that out of all the people that will show up tonight, at least one of them will be a registered sex offender.

[Laughter]

MALE REPORTER: You have to find that one person.

[INAUDIBLE]

FEMALE REPORTER: And the one thing we can do is, we won’t know, we won’t know but if there is any sort of chaos whatsoever we can put out a twitter/facebook alert: saying what the… ‘Hey Joe Miller punched at rally.’

FEMALE REPORTER: Kinda like Rand Paul. I like that. That’s a good one.

Sarah Palin reacts on Fox News Sunday early Sunday morning.  –

The rest of the elite media is not reporting the story with any justice; a Google search late Sunday night for this story shows only a handful of media outlets reporting the story and most of them are local Fox affiliates. This story has been out since Saturday night and below is screen shot of the Alaska Daily News senate race coverage (notice the links section has no mention of the story) late Sunday Night (10:30 PM Eastern complete with Lisa Murkowski Ad). The ADN had an article on their web site late Sunday but it was not promoted not was it in their Senate Race link list till Monday.   This is not a surprise considering that ADN was “investigating” the bogus “Trig is not Sarah’s baby” allegation MONTHS after the story was debunked.

Below is the reaction from The Washington Post, which was to claim that the media is “Pro-Palin Corrupt” and that Palin gets too much coverage for her popularity and why… because she isn’t in the top few most followed people on Twitter… amazing. Of course Sarah Palin is THE most followed/Liked person on Facebook (and Facebook is way more popular than twitter), but reporting that does not fit the narrative that the Washington Post wished to present. This piece is so outrageous and laughable that I fear that the Post will scrub it so I took a screen shot:
