Video: Here are your Planned Parenthood activists in action.

Posted by iusbvision on March 26, 2011

I appreciate their candor, even it if is a tad revolting.

Bottom line, they want to engage in all of the irresponsible behavior they want and they believe they have the RIGHT to make you pay for the consequences. Many of them also have some serious hate issues as you will see.

This is just something that has got to be seen to be believed.

By the way, Planned Parenthood engages in institutional violations of the law. This is merely one of these videos we could post:

Planned Parenthood “We can make sure that your donation aborts black babies only…” no joke folks:

Black community leaders speak out:

Planned Parenthood apologized for the phone calls, but there is one little problem. Planned Parenthood’s founder Margaret Sanger was a eugenicist who wanted to use abortion, segregation, sterilization, birth control both voluntary and involuntary, to create a master race. According to Sanger if we have to “clear the weeds” to “cultivate the garden” so be it and should be used to solve “the negro problem”:

“We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.” – Margaret Sanger’s December 19, 1939 letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble, 255 Adams Street, Milton, Massachusetts. EPA Using Tax Dollars for Partisan Advertising

Posted by iusbvision on March 26, 2011

Welcome to Chicago style corruption, just what we warned you about before the election. Just what you on the left denied would happen, is happening.

Via some great reporting at Big Government.com:

Your tax dollars at work…
The EPA is now paying the American Lung Association to attack Republicans:

[Editor’s Note – This is a billboard just a few miles north of where I live attacking Fred Upton. In a crazy ruling by the court, they handed the EPA the power to regulate CO2 as if it were a pollutant. The Constitution says that all lawmaking power rests with the Congress. It is with this “authority” under color of law (fake law) that Obama has instructed the EPA to create a Cap & Trade scheme against the will of Congress and the American people. This is profoundly and expressly unconstitutional and a complete violation of Separation of Powers.

So the Republicans are moving to take this power away. This billboard is Obama’s response. The dishonest narrative is “Republicans want to poison the air and kill this child “. CO2 is what we breath out and what trees and plants breath in, without it we would all starve. Almost any economic activity creates some CO2 so this is an “excuse” to regulate anything and everything by using unelected bureaucrats and ignoring Congress altogether.

This is abuse of power on its face, Democrats know this but just don’t care, and some Republicans are afraid of being accused of wanting to poison the girl on the billboard. The only way to put an end to this is to vote for bold conservative candidates overwhelmingly.]

The ALA put up four billboards like this one near Rep. Fred Upton’s office in Michigan. Upton is the House Energy and Commerce Chairman. (PlowShareGroup)

The Environmental Protection Agency is paying the American Lung Association to run attack ads against Republican members of Congress.

JunkScience.com reported:

“The American Lung Association has targeted House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton for his efforts to stop U.S. EPA from regulating greenhouse gas emissions by placing billboards within sight of his district offices linking climate change with increased childhood asthma,” reports E&E News PM.

But as we reported last week in “EPA owns the American Lung Association,” the EPA has paid the American Lung Association over $20 million in the last ten years, and has paid the ALA many more millions in a symbiotic relationship going back to at least 1990.

The EPA-ALA relationship works something like this: EPA pays the ALA and, in return, the ALA agitates for more stringent EPA air quality regulation, including by lawsuit. Now it’s billboards.

In addition to defunding National Public Radio, the House GOP should look at the EPA’s funding of American Lung Association.

It doesn’t matter that the EPA policies will cause your

Another antisemite is revealed in the White House.

Posted by iusbvision on March 24, 2011

This time it is the wife of Cass Sunstien. Sunstien works in the White House and his wife sits on Obama’s National Security Council.

On tape she  came out against Israel and wants us to fund Hamas/Palestinians.

Of course any private business in Hamas controlled territory will vanish because money is power and Hamas, like the PLO, will not have their power challenged. That is why Arafat killed off most of the business leaders as “Israeli collaborators” when he took power.

Glenn Beck blasted the administration again for turning against Israel. This is exactly the kind of thing that VP Biden promised would not happen.

CBO: Obama understates deficits by $2.3 trillion

Posted by iusbvision on March 19, 2011

We saw this coming, especially since his budget predicted 4 and 5% economic growth which is laughable.

AP/Yahoo News:

WASHINGTON (AP) — A new assessment of President Barack Obama’s budget released Friday says the White House underestimates future budget deficits by more than $2 trillion over the upcoming decade.

The estimate from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office says that if Obama’s February budget submission is enacted into law it would produce deficits totaling $9.5 trillion over 10 years — an average of almost $1 trillion a year.

Obama’s budget saw deficits totaling $7.2 trillion over the same period.

The difference is chiefly because CBO has a less optimistic estimate of how much the government will collect in tax revenues, partly because the administration has rosier economic projections.

Obama’s illegal offshore drilling moratorium explained. This will infuriate you. UPDATE – Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Confirms: Democrat Energy Policy is To Push For Less Energy and More Deficit Spending

Posted by iusbvision on March 18, 2011

In 2012, the only way someone can vote for Obama in good conscience is by ignorance.

This is an administration that does not act in good faith.

UPDATE I –  Listen for yourself all:

Democrat energy policy: Less drilling, more deficit spending. Pinheads like Debbie Schultz have said that there would be “no immediate” new oil if we started drilling today is cute, but they have been saying that for 20 years. Now if we started more drilling back then, or even five years ago it would be an entirely different story.  By the way Obama’s illegal drilling ban has already cost many thousands of jobs.

If I start digging a well, it will not immediately result in more water, so lets all have massive thirst. If you start your car, it will not immediately result in you being at work, so lets ban cars and have trains….

Someone is voting for these idiots.

NOTE – If Sarah Palin had uttered the shear nonsense that Schultz puts out on a regular basis it would be the headline almost every other night on the news.

Schultz has been making these kind of orbital statements for a long time. I think it is time for Rush Limbaugh to start giving her a little of what the Democrats need right now:

A great interview. I like Marco because he sees the big picture. He attacks the nations problems as if he wakes up in the morning and reads a list of the reasons why he ran for the job in the first place.

So you hear it in his voice? The anger? The frustration? The worry? Marco has had enough. He is fighting to be nice, but you can tell that he is ready to launch on some bad guys.

Dick Morris Reports: Consumer Confidence Collapses

Posted by iusbvision on March 15, 2011

If you want to know what is going on with the economy today, Dick Morris has a very good explanation here.

Dick Morris was the political strategist for Bill Clinton for many years.

Speaking of the former President, Bill Clinton seems to have had enough. He is openly criticizing Obama’s mis-steps with the economy, especially the illegal offshore drilling ban, the yanking of coal permits etc.

This may have also been a political shot across the bow. The Obama Administration has been jerking Hillary around. The State Department thinks it has agreement across the administration on  Middle-East policy makes a cautious but sensible statement on the position of the United States and Obama comes out the very next day and contradicts it. This kind of thing happens too much. Niall Ferguson asked if we have two foreign policies and mocked the administration. That shows a great immaturity at the White House. It also confuses and undermines the confidence of our allies.

This has happened too many times to be an accident.

Being a cabinet Secretary is a brutal job. It is often seven days a week and 13 hours a day. Most Cabinet Secretaries last around 20 months. Obviously there are exceptions but that tells you how brutal the job can be. I have seen recent pictures of Hillary lately and she is not looking well.

I am not saying that Hillary resign because she is doing a bad job, although she is not among the best who had held the position, she should resign because the situation in the administration is intolerable and may be designed to do her political damage.

Solar and Wind receive 20x the govt subsidies of most other energy. China builds coal plants to make wind and solar tech to sell to us.

Posted by iusbvision on March 13, 2011

Solar and Wind are very expensive, harder to transmit, and inconsistent. Solar is so expensive that solar panels plants in the United States are closing and the work is going to China. China builds a coal plant every week.

All of this money going to these subsidies cannot be used for other things. Mandates on electric companies to get more energy from wind and solar are next to impossible to meet so those companies are fined, which forces energy companies to pass those fines to their customers, which helps to send more jobs overseas.

Reason TV asks, if all of these green energy mandates are going to make all of these 21st century jobs, how come in California that has totally backfired. The reasons above explain why and they are reasons that are explained in any first year macroeconomics class.

If you want to see lower energy costs and business to start coming back home there is only one solution. Throw out Democrats en mass. We have trillions in natural gas, oil and other resources that are off limits that we could use to help pay off the national debt and rebuild the economy. We also need a government that costs less than $2 trillion a year instead of the nearly $4 trillion it costs now.

Obama Administration Pushes Dayton to “Pass” Police Recruits who Fail Exam.

Posted by iusbvision on March 12, 2011

The Obama administration wants passing grade of an F for policer officer exam so more minoritities pass.

The scores are so low for passing now that even the NAACP opposes the lower standards.

Dayton Local ABC News:

DAYTON — The Dayton Police Department is lowering its testing standards for recruits.

It’s a move required by the U.S. Department of Justice after it says not enough African-Americans passed the exam.

Dayton is in desperate need of officers to replace dozens of retirees.  The hiring process was postponed for months because the D.O.J. rejected the original scores provided by the Dayton Civil Service Board, which administers the test.

Under the previous requirements, candidates had to get a 66% on part one of the exam and a 72% on part two.

The D.O.J. approved new scoring policy only requires potential police officers to get a 58% and a 63%.  That’s the equivalent of an ‘F’ and a ‘D’.

“It becomes a safety issue for the people of our community,” said Dayton Fraternal Order of Police President, Randy Beane.  “It becomes a safety issue to have an incompetent officer next to you in a life and death situation.”

“The NAACP does not support individuals failing a test and then having the opportunity to be gainfully employed,” agreed Dayton NAACP President Derrick Foward.

The D.O.J. and Civil Service Board declined Dayton’s News Source’s repeat requests for interviews.  The lower standards mean 258 more people passed the test. The city won’t say how many were minorities.

“If you lower the score for any group of people, you’re not getting the best qualified people for the job,” Foward said.

Over two years in the Obama presidency and still no serious toxic asset plan for everyone.

Posted by iusbvision on March 9, 2011

How long have we said that the mortgage crisis has been used to primarily as an excuse for a power grab, with a distant second being helping out those who could use some help?

Of course one of the reasons there are so many empty homes on the market is because the Democrat’s mortgage plans were a failure if you view the top goal as helping out people with at risk loans. If you view them from the primary purpose of a power grab they are a smashing success.

We have been saying this since February 3rd. Obama’s mortgage plan wasn’t serious and would help very few. Anyone who wanted to seriously tackle the economy needed to have a plan for the toxic assets, keep mortgage holders in their homes and get housing prices to steady.  Obama’s plan wasn’t designed to even do that and the economy has continued to suffer for it.

The administration managed to drastically cut down the number of banks. Wealth consolidation is important for the left because the fewer people that have it and control it the easier it is to control that wealth and engage in social engineering. This was done by not suspending the mark to market rule so that mortgage securities would have to be counted as worthless even though that had homes standing besides them, abuse of regulatory enforcement was another method, and another method was the selective use of the buying of bank stocks and issuance of bailout funds. For example: Bank A would get bailout, bank B would not. Bank A buys bank B. Bank A gives money to ACORN or another Obama political ally. The financial reform bill was a massive power-grab as we have recently covered.  This is not conspiracy stuff folks. This is history.

Since that February 3rd article we have covered this story repeatedly and told you how the mortgage crisis was being prolonged as an excuse to gain control of the banks. [LINKS 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 1, 2,]. Examination of these links shows we started reporting this before Fox, CNBC’s Rick Santelli and Jim Cramer. [Gratuitous self promotion – why not /wink – editor]

Think about it folks. I will ask this question again. We are over two years into the Obama presidency and since the 2008 campaign everyone has said that priority one for getting the economy back in place is dealing with the toxic assets and at risk mortgages to keep people in their homes and stabilize the housing market. It still has not been done. WHY?

Now we might not be able to afford it even if we wanted to.  The housing market is now in a double dip.

Republicans Find Multi-Billion Dollar Slush Funds Hidden in ObamaCare Bill – UPDATE: PolitiFact, FactCheck, WashPo Fact Checker, Heritage say Bachmann is Right

Posted by iusbvision on March 9, 2011

So what about those CBO numbers again far left?

$105 billion hidden in the bill so that the GOP could never cut off funds for it, a $16 Billion slush fund, and unlimited budgetary authority to bail out state insurance pools. None of it known, none of it counted by the CBO and much of it unconstitutional.

Now you know why Nancy Pelosi had to say this:

UPDATE I – Michele Bachmann speaks.

The liberal media has been attacking my work to expose the truth about Obamacare. But all the major political fact-checking outlets–PolitiFact, FactCheck and the Washington Post Fact Checker–agree: the $105 billion hidden in Obamacare does exist! Get the facts: http://bit.ly/ggdOtv .

Heritage Foundation:

Today former Congressman Ernest Istook testified before the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee about the $105 billion slush fund in advance appropriations liberals tucked inside Obamacare. The $105 billion bypasses the traditional yearly budgeting process and is spread throughout the 2,700 page legislation. It took the Congressional Research Service (CRS) seven months to identify all the disparate funds and it was not until February (11 months after the bill passed) that all of the funds could be totaled up.

Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) has been beating the drum to raise awareness of this unprecedented level of advance spending. But the liberal media has been attacking her for calling it “hidden” funding. In reality, Rep. Bachmann said that “practically no Member of Congress even knew that $105 billion of funding was” in the bill.FactCheck says that this funding was known to “those who read the bill … including members of Congress.” But does FactCheck really believe that any member of Congress read all 2,700 pages of the bill? Do they have any evidence at all that any member of Congress knew about the $105 billion figure before CRS published their report this February?

But more importantly, in their attempted take down of Rep. Bachmann, PolitiFactFactCheck, and The Washington Post Fact Checker all confirm her underlying charge: the $105 billion exists. Poltifact writes: “We added up the spending Bachmann was referring to and got $104 billion — very close to her number.”

And a note to The Washington Post Fact Checker: Former Congressman Ernest Istook served in the House of Representatives, not the Senate.

Sen. Durbin Tells FOX News Sunday: Dems Will Only Cut $10.5 Billion From Bloated Budget – UPDATED!

Posted by iusbvision on March 6, 2011

It is obvious, the Democrat leadership wants a government shut down and are not serious about getting spending under control. This inspires a loss of confidence. UPDATE  March 29 – Democrat leaders caught on tape plotting government shut down, acting in bad faith – LINK.

UPDATE – Worlds largest bond fund dumps U.S. Treasuries – LINK. Loss of confidence inspires things like this folks.

The deficit in February was $232 billion (yes that is for a single month), which is substantially higher than the entire yearly deficit the last year the Republicans had fiscal control (2007). The Democrats plan to borrow 42 cents for every dollar they spend.

From a $3.7 TRILLION proposed budget, the Democrats are only willing to drop $10.5 billion from that outrageous number? That is less than 1/3 of 1%.

The Democrats proposal is like taking a $100 grocery bill and cutting it by 28 CENTS. The GOP spending cut proposal is so modest that it would only be cutting that same grocery bill by about $1.59. How can anyone say with a straight face that either of these cuts are draconian? The GAO just issued a report detailing that many agencies/programs in government have duplicate overlap and are a waste.

The Republicans already compromised with the Democrats by lowering the cuts from this outrageous deficit spending from $100 billion to $61 billion.

The Republicans compromised once, now the Democrats are rejecting the $61 billion compromise. This shows just how dishonest the Democrats were when they said that government has to start living within its means. Obama promised that he would offer a plan to reform entitlements, no such plan has been offered and his budget just continues trillion dollar yearly deficits for as long as the eye can see.

Does anyone doubt that the left is trying to spend us into oblivion? If you do doubt it, please post a logical explanation. The Democrats behavior is so outrageous they are proving Glenn Beck and David Horowitz right about the Cloward-Piven Strategy.

UPDATE – Sen. Mitch McConnell: Obama budget proposal – “unacceptable”, “indefensible”

UPDATE IIObama Debt Commission Chair’s Speak Out! To Increase Govt Revenue We Must : Lower the tax rates to 8, 14 and 23%.  Make a new slim and lean tax code. Lower the corporate tax rate.

Great interview. All credit to Erskine Bowles, who used to be one of the nastier partisan Democrat hired guns. He has almost completely adopted a near Steve Forbes like tax agenda, because that is the best way to raise government revenue. Bowles even makes the case that Democrats need to get real on spending cuts and that Republicans aren’t pushing hard enough. I am in awe.  Bowles has even says that unions have over reached. I am sure Bowles is feeling the heat from his former colleagues.  I never thought I would see myself typing these words; Erskine Bowles has earned my respect. My hat is off to his courage.

ATF Whistle-blower: My bosses ordered me to allow illegal guns to flow to Mexican cartels – UPDATED! w/Larry Pratt from GOA

Posted by iusbvision on March 3, 2011

How nice.

Attorney General Eric Holder, Sec. Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama pushed for a new ban on self loading rifles by claiming that they were the primary source of guns to the Mexican cartels. Internal government reports showed that this was not true and that only 17% of drug cartel guns in Mexico can be traced back to organized crime straw man sales in the US.

Fox News got their hands on the government report and blasted the government and the other news media outlets for swallowing the bogus narrative from the government and not doing their homework (VIDEO). As a result the left lost the argument.

Oh so what to do. I know, make sure more illegal guns get to Mexico and push for a gun ban later! Well now they have been busted again.

Of course, guns at American gun stores are not machine guns, they shoot one bullet at a time and merely look like the fully automatics. This is why, as the government report states, that most of these weapons are coming from the Mexican Military and the Communist Columbian Rebels such as FARC.

CBS (Be sure to watch the video at the CBS link to see how the agents unhappy with the policy were threatened and how Senator Grassley has asked for documents from the ATF and the Obama Administration is not cooperating):

(CBS News)  WASHINGTON – Federal agent John Dodson says what he was asked to do was beyond belief.

He was intentionally letting guns go to Mexico?

“Yes ma’am,” Dodson told CBS News. “The agency was.”

An Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms senior agent assigned to the Phoenix office in 2010, Dodson’s job is to stop gun trafficking across the border. Instead, he says he was ordered to sit by and watch it happen.

Investigators call the tactic letting guns “walk.” In this case, walking into the hands of criminals who would use them in Mexico and the United States.

Sharyl Attkisson’s original “Gunrunner” report

Dodson’s bosses say that never happened. Now, he’s risking his job to go public.

“I’m boots on the ground in Phoenix, telling you we’ve been doing it every day since I’ve been here,” he said. “Here I am. Tell me I didn’t do the things that I did. Tell me you didn’t order me to do the things I did. Tell me it didn’t happen. Now you have a name on it. You have a face to put with it. Here I am. Someone now, tell me it didn’t happen.”

Agent Dodson and other sources say the gun walking strategy was approved all the way up to the Justice Department. ***The idea was to see where the guns ended up, build a big case and take down a cartel. And it was all kept secret from Mexico.

ATF named the case “Fast and Furious.”

Surveillance video obtained by CBS News shows suspected drug cartel suppliers carrying boxes of weapons to their cars at a Phoenix gun shop. The long boxes shown in the video being loaded in were AK-47-type assault rifles.

So it turns out ATF not only allowed it – they videotaped it.

*** This is nonsense. American law enforcement cannot go into Mexico armed if the Mexican Military can’t take down the Cartel how will we with anything short of a military invasion? CBS says that none of this evidence was used in a cartel prosecution. No kidding. CPI has more, but spins it as positive as they can for the government which is no surprise. They report that their ATF supervisors reacted with glee over the connection between American guns that they let go to Mexico and the violence. Abuse and lawlessness at the ATF has been an ongoing problem for decades – LINK.

UPDATE I – Gun Owners of America has must see updates on this story. They have done an in-depth investigation. See the following links HERE and HERE.

AFL-CIO Union Chief: The Best Way To Create Jobs is to Raise Taxes

Posted by iusbvision on February 26, 2011

This is from the same man who said that government should take over all private business, who speaks in front of communist revolutionary groups, and has a long history of violence. Trumka talks to the White House every day and visits twice a week – LINK.

Rich "Union Thug" Trumka

Yahoo News:

What’s the best way to get Americans back to work?

Raise taxes, according to AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. Specifically, he wants to raise the federal gas tax as a means to fund infrastructure spending. “We need a dedicated source of revenue to create infrastructure in this country,” he tells Aaron Task in the accompanying clip.

“We need to create jobs. The best way to do that is through infrastructure development.” Simply maintaining the existing infrastructure in this country will cost $2.2 trillion over five years, according to the American Society of Civil Engineers. That doesn’t include Obama’s objective of high-speed rails and green energy projects.

Oh yes, we can tax ourselves into prosperity, and we can spend trillions on more stimulus packages most of the money goes to government unions to make this man even more wealthy. Sickening.

Obama Administration Hiding Meetings with Lobbyists

Posted by iusbvision on February 26, 2011

Editor’s Note – It is tenacity and vigilance like this that has kept Michelle Malkin the queen of conservative internet news since the invention of the medium. The respect she enjoys is well deserved.

Michelle Malkin

Via the queen of the blogosphere Michelle Malkin:

In Culture of Corruption, I exposed Team Obama’s big lie about its commitment to public disclosure and openness in government.

Liberals balked. “How can you possibly make such a judgment so early on in the presidency?” they squawked.

After the book was published, the White House’s selective transparency and subversion of disclosure rules and regs continued apace.

Democrats played hide-and-seek on the Hill.

President Obama cut endless backroom deals and cut C-SPAN out.

The White House carved out a Coffee House loophole to keep lobbyist meetings off the books.

And, finally, the White House press corps started complaining about lack of access.

Now, this today from Politico:

Caught between their boss’s anti-lobbyist rhetoric and the reality of governing, President Barack Obama’s aides often steer meetings with lobbyists to a complex just off the White House grounds – and several of the lobbyists involved say they believe the choice of venue is no accident.

It allows the Obama administration to keep these lobbyist meetings shielded from public view — and out of Secret Service logs collected on visitors to the White House and later released to the public.

…Obama’s administration has touted its release of White House visitors logs as a breakthrough in transparency, as the first White House team ever to reveal the comings and goings around the West Wing and the Old Executive Office Building.

The Jackson Place townhouses are a different story.

There are no records of meetings at the row houses just off Lafayette Square that house the White House Conference Center and the Council on Environmental Quality, home to two of the busiest meeting spaces. The White House can’t say who attended meetings there, or how often. The Secret Service doesn’t log in visitors or require a background check the way it does at the main gates of the White House.

…It’s not only Jackson Place. Another favorite off-campus meeting spot is a nearby Caribou Coffee, which, according to the New York Times, has hosted hundreds of meetings among lobbyists and White House staffers since Obama took office.

And administration officials recently asked some lobbyists and others who met with them to sign confidentiality agreements barring them from disclosing what was discussed at meetings with administration officials, in that case a rental policy working group.

Obama lied, transparency died, Part 989.

See, I told you so.

So much for transparency.

Google Comes Under Fire for ‘Secret’ Relationship with NSA. Cozy with Administration.

Posted by iusbvision on February 25, 2011

Related – Big Business Buying Influence With Democrats: Google Pays 2.4% Federal Taxes

Of course we have talked about the cozy and monetary relationship that the Obama Administration has with Google before.

Yahoo News:

Consumer Watchdog, an advocacy group largely focused in recent years on Google’s privacy practices, has called on a congressional investigation into the Internet giant’s “cozy” relationship with U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration.

In a letter sent Monday, Consumer Watchdog asked Representative Darrell Issa, the new chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, to investigate the relationship between Google and several government agencies.

The group asked Issa to investigate contracts at several U.S. agencies for Google technology and services, the “secretive” relationship between Google and the U.S. National Security Agency, and the company’s use of a U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration airfield in California.

Federal agencies have also taken “insufficient” action in response to revelations last year that Google Street View cars were collecting data from open Wi-Fi connections they passed, Consumer Watchdog said in the letter.

“We believe Google has inappropriately benefited from close ties to the administration,” the letter said. “Google is most consumers’ gateway to the Internet. Nonetheless, it should not get special treatment and access because of a special relationship with the administration.”

Consumer Watchdog may have an ally in Issa, a California Republican. In July he sent a letter to Google raising concerns that White House Deputy Chief Technology Officer Andrew McLaughlin, the former head of global public policy for Google, had inappropriate e-mail contact with company employees.

A Google spokeswoman questioned Consumer Watchdog’s objectivity. Some groups have questioned the group’s relationship with Google rival Microsoft, and Consumer Watchdog’s criticisms of online privacy efforts have also exclusively zeroed in on Google, with the group rarely mentioning Microsoft, Facebook and other Web-based companies in the past two years.

“This is just the latest in a long list of press stunts from an organization that admits to working closely with our competitors,” said the Google spokeswoman.

But Consumer Watchdog gets no funding from Microsoft or any other Google competitor, said John Simpson, consumer advocate with the group. “We don’t have any relationship with Microsoft at all,” he said. “We don’t take any of their money.”

Consumer Watchdog has decided to focus on Google’s privacy practices because the company’s services serve as a gateway to the Internet for many people, Simpson said. If the group can push Google, “without a doubt the dominant Internet company,” to change its privacy practices, other companies will follow suit, he said.

“Google’s held itself to be the company that says its motto is, ‘don’t be evil,’ and they also advocate openness for everyone else,” he said. “We’re trying to hold them to their own word.”

Consumer Watchdog, in January 2009, suggested that Google was preparing a lobbying campaign asking Congress to allow the sale of electronic health records. Google called the allegations “100 percent false and unfounded.”

In September, Consumer Watchdog bought space on a 540-square-foot video screen in New York’s Times Square with the video criticizing Google’s privacy practices.

In April, Consumer Watchdog officials called for the U.S. Department of Justice to break up Google. They appeared at a press conference with a representative of the Microsoft- and Amazon.com-funded Open Book Alliance.

Consumer Watchdog’s latest complaints about the relationship of Google and the Obama administration are outlined in a 32-page report.

The paper questions a decision by NASA allowing Google executives to use its Moffett Federal Airfield near Google headquarters. Although H211, a company controlled by Google top executives, pays NASA rent, they enjoy access to the airfield that other companies or groups don’t have, Simpson said.

The paper also questions Google contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense and other agencies, suggesting that, in some cases, Google contracts were fast-tracked. The paper also questions Google’s relationship with the U.S. National Security Agency and calls for the company to be more open about what consumer information it shares with the spy agency.

When asked if other companies, including broadband providers, should disclose what customer information they share with the NSA, Simpson said they should, too.

“I understand the NSA is a super-secret spook organization,” he said. “But given Google’s very special situation where it possesses so much personal data about people, I think that there ought to be a little more openness about what precisely goes on between the two.”

Obama Administration: We will not enforce DOMA

Posted by iusbvision on February 25, 2011

What if a President Palin had behaved this way? Does anyone doubt that the elite media would be asking for her impeachment?

Calling the law unconstitutional he says he wont enforce it – LINK.  But wait, ObamaCare was declared unconstitutional and he is ignoring the ruling. His offshore drilling ban also unconstitutional and he ignores that and then ignores being held in contempt of court.

If it comes to the court ruling demanding the end of the offshore drilling ban he is ignoring which has resulted in a 13% drop in domestic oil production, the ruling finding O-Care unconstitutional he is ignoring, the uncalled for revocation of coal mining permits, the EPA now making “law” via abuse of the regulatory power in spite of the will of Congress, the FCC regulating the internet in spite of Congress and the courts telling them no, the refusal to enforce the Voting Rights Act when it comes to the Black Panthers and now this, what we are seeing the refusal by this president to recognize any limits on his power, be it the laws of Congress, the courts or even separation of powers.

This is also demonstrated by some of his judicial nominees such as Elana Kagan who wrote in a law review article that government should redistribute speech and that government has no interest in preserving a marketplace of ideas. In essence that government should pick whose and what speech is good for society.

He is abusing that regulatory power given by Congress, which is supposed to be used to make the laws Congress passes easy to comply with and understand, as a tool for social engineering.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) – Young demonstrators hurled rocks and fire bombs at riot police as clashes broke out Wednesday in Athens during a mass rally against austerity measures, part of a general strike that crippled services and public transportation around the country.

Police fired tear gas and flash grenades at protesters, blanketing parts of the city center in choking smoke. Thousands of peaceful demonstrators ran to side streets to take cover. A police officer was attacked and his uniform caught fire in the city’s main Syntagma Square, and his motorcycle was burned.

At least two people were injured and another three arrested. One group of rioting youths smashed paving stones in front of the central Bank of Greece, but there were no immediate reports of any serious damage.

More than 30,000 protesters attended the Athens rally, which had been calm before the clashes. Protesters chanting “Don’t obey the rich – Fight back!” marched to parliament as the city center was heavily policed. A brass band, tractors and cyclists joined the rally.

The rally was part of Greece’s first major labor protest this year as Prime Minister George Papandreou’s Socialist government faces international pressure to make more lasting cuts after the nation’s debt-crippled economy was rescued from bankruptcy by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.

The 24-hour strike halted trains, ferries and most public transport across the country, and led to the cancellation of more than 100 flights at Athens International Airport. The strike also the closed the Acropolis and other major tourist sites.

State hospital doctors, ambulance drivers, pharmacists, lawyers and tax collectors joined school teachers, journalists and thousands of small businesses as more middle-class groups took part in the protest than have in the past. Athens’ main shopping district was mostly empty, as many small business owners shuttered their stores.

Unions are angry at the ongoing austerity measures put in place by the Socialist government in exchange for a euro110 billion ($150 billion) bailout loan package from European countries and the IMF.

Prof. Niall Ferguson Blasts Obama and MSNBC on Egypt

Posted by iusbvision on February 22, 2011

Niall Ferguson is the kind of academic that one ideally thinks of when it comes to a first rate academic. He is a Senior Fellow at Harvard, Oxford and Stanford.

Niall Ferguson is brilliant and his credentials are second to none. He has no regard for sacred cows or political correctness. This makes sense because an academic should first be a truth teller who makes every effort to avoid putting on rose colored glasses.

Ferguson plays no favorites. He is happy to write for Newsweek, be a regular on MSNBC, and then feels perfectly comfortable telling accurate history and making analysis for Glenn Beck. No matter who Prof. Furguson is in front of he pulls no punches and tells things as they are to the best of his ability. This is exactly the kind of ethical courage and fortitude that every academic should strive for.

One quality that many good academics have is that they go out of their way to correct ignorance no matter who is spewing it. I understand Ferguson’s frustration with the Obama Administration and the State Department who sit back and get their analysis on Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood completely wrong.  Prof. Ferguson cops a bit of an attitude when it comes to this because anyone who just does a few hours of history homework could tell Mika (or Obama) what Ferguson explains here.

The State Department is on the campus of George Washington University. If one studies far left academia and its myopic culture, one soon understands the State Department.

Prof. Ferguson took Mika to school when she challenged Ferguson saying that she thought Egypt was a success for the President. This is a great example of how far removed the elite media is from reality.

This is a must see video.

Ironically, what Prof. Ferguson says about what the Middle East thinks about the naivety of this administration mirrors what Donald Trump says that hid Chinese government contacts are telling him.

UPDATE – Walid Shoebat agrees with Prof Ferguson – LINK.

Prof. Ferguson has little tolerance for spin and nonsense. I am going to start reading his books.

February News Roundup Part I

Posted by iusbvision on February 18, 2011

We have been a bit behind on blogging this month. Catching up by using a couple of mega-posts to catch up on the important stuff. There are lots of great updates here so be sure to scan through this carefully and be sure to catch our February News Roundup Part II.

>> Obama’s Cousin Dr. Milton Wolf says that Palin is right about ObamaCare.  – LINK.

>> Watts – New Evidence that mother nature deals with CO2 just fine. Also if all industrial activity stopped climate would still change – LINK:

>>Steve McIntyre presentation at the Heartland Climate Change and Economics Institute. This is a no miss video. – LINK.

>> Daily Caller – The new budget from the White House gives the GOP new opportunities.

The budget from the President contains levels of spending, debt and new taxes that are just reckless. The numbers are also fraudulent because the proposed budget assumes levels of economic growth that are not even close to realistic. You can see the official proposed and rather rosy rigged White House deficit numbers here – http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/omb/budget/fy2012/assets/tables.pdf

Do these numbers look like the government living within its mean as President Obama said to you?

>> Daily Caller – First Drilling Company Files Bankruptcy as  Result of Obama Illegal Offshore Drilling Ban.

Keep in mind that we reported that the Obama Administration has been found in contempt of course for continuing to enforce the illegal offshore drilling ban. By the way the Daily Caller has been on a roll of great coverage lately and has become a must see daily along with the Washington Examiner.

>>Dale Petersen is running for President. I had a nice chat with one of his fund raisers at CPAC. I will discuss more of that later. This guy is a long shot to be sure, but there is certainly more depth to him than a few great TV ads.

>>Gallup: More Americans Now Pro-Life than Pro-Abortion for the First Time.

>>Daily Caller – Obama signs into law new Food Regulation Bill passed during the lame duck session at Christmas while you weren’t looking.

This bill is a gargantuan power grab that drives up food prices and sticks it to smaller companies and farms. This bill is Norton’s First Law in action: Big business loves big government because big government taxes and regulates the small and medium sized competition out of the competition.

You “liberals” who claim to oppose corporatism, I am waiting for you to speak up because this is yet another in a long list of examples of Democrats being in big corporations back pocket.

>> Tea Party Express Takes on Senator Lugar:

>> America’s worst speed traps LINK.

>> Prof. William Jacobson at Cornell dissects the Shirley Sherrod nuisance lawsuit against Andrew Breitbart. Mark Levin Comments:

>> Accuracy in Media interviews Donald Rumsfeld on his book and media bias.

Rumsfeld talks about the WMD issue. The weapons inspectors found active and static WMD programs some of which could be producing mass weapons in six months and some programs would be producing within five years. Saddam was suppose dto give all of this up. We invaded in 2003 well five years later was 2008. So what would terrorists now be armed with if Saddam was not removed?:

>> Bill O’Reilly Budget Plan for America – “It is embarrassing that the President’s own debt commission says he is not doing nearly enough to solve the financial crisis…” :

>> WOW – Laurie Dhue was a functioning alcoholic for 10 years! Tells all to Geraldo! Sober for 4 years! May come back to Fox News!!

>> GOOD NEWS – The House passed 61 Billion in real spending cuts today and repealed excessive and poorly designed regulations from several industries including coal. The regulatory power is granted by Congress for the purpose of making the laws Congress passes easy to understand and follow, it was never designed for social engineering nor was it intended to be used to allow the executive to legislate on its own and buck the will of Congress.

>> File this under awesome: The House has voted 244-179 to kill $13 million in U.S. funding for the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The House no longer wishes to have the IPCC prepare its climate assessment. GOP lawmakers said IPCC scientists were guilty of manipulating data and destroying evidence to promote their global warming views. (H/T Gregory Hilton)

>> By a 235 to 189 margin, the House of Representatives has just voted to defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, National Public Radio and PBS. They have been receiving $420 million from the government. They are all responsible for blatant bias against conservatives. (H/T Gregory Hilton).

>> Liz Trotta Rips Anderson Cooper’s Egypt Coverage!

>> State Rep. Robert Hagen (D-OH) has just called a black tea party member “Buckwheat,” but says it is not a racial slur. Tom Spaulding wants to test his claim: “Let’s have Hagan take a midnight stroll in poor urban areas and call the black people he meets ‘Buckwheat’. Let him explain that he’s been using the phrase ‘since he was a kid’ and it ‘has no racial connotation’”. State Sen. Jake Knotts (R-SC) referred to Gov. Nikki Haley as a “towelhead” on a comedy show.  (Via Gregory Hilton)

>> Tucker Carlson:  Politically Correct (read not accurate) pro-Islamic bias being introduced to public school text books.

I have high school aged relatives and it amazes me how much leftist secular/anti-western culture attitude change propaganda gets into these text books, much of it can be debunked with common academic and public records resources. In many of these texts Ronald Reagan’s name is not even mentioned in the sections covering the end of the Cold War; I just graduated with a new degree in 2010 and that particular bias was in my class material. Fortunately the young PhD. candidate teaching the class allowed me to give a lecture on the Cold War as I was the only one in the room old enough to remember it.

>> Geert Wilders on the expatriating of Jihadists from Europe.

Most people here in the USA havce no idea how the situation in Europe has evolved. Many European countries including Sweden, England, Germany, France, and Holland have “state within a state” jihadist enclaves where militant Islamists have such control that not even the police are not safe to enter. The violence has reached incredible levels. Such violence includes Islamic rape gangs that act with near impunity, honor killings, and female genital mutilation. The militants have masterfully used their lawyers to manipulate the Euro left and the hate speech laws to make it virtually illegal to even criticize what is going on.  Polls in England show that 28% of Muslims were willing to tell a pollster that they supported and/or were sympathetic to the cause of the 9/11 hijackers and the subway bombers. Many also are willing to tell a pollster that they want to do away with democracy, and force sharia law and the caliphate upon Europe.

>> Congress in bipartisan push to reverse Obama’s ban on re-importation of M-1 Garand antique rifles.

Ahh yes I remember the campaign. I remember when Obama said that he supported the Second Amendment and how he promised not to get in the way of hunters, collectors and those who wanted to have a gun for legitimate self defense. I remember how he hired that actor to get in target shooting garb to praise him. I remember how he lectured us all on how he supported gun rights and firearm enthusiasts. I also remember how he opposed a law in Illinois that would allow you to defend yourself in your own home. I also remember how he answered several firearms policy questionnaires and I remember how he was against Heller before he was for it. I also remember how right after he was elected he started hiring hard core anti-gun (BATF Chief) and anti-hunting (OIRA Director) activists.  But what can I say, but WE TOLD YOU SO.

The excuse was that these rifles are too dangerous…. but no one in the Administration would go on the record stating so. “Asked why the M1’s pose a threat, the State Department spokesman referred questions to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. ATF representatives said they would look into the question Monday afternoon, but on Wednesday they referred questions to the Justice Department. DOJ spokesman Dean Boyd referred questions back to the State Department” – LINK.

These rifles are NOT the choice of criminals by a long shot. The M1 Garand rifle is very long, heavy, fires ammo that is very expensive, it has an antique loading mechanism that only holds eight bullets, it is not a rapid fire weapon and if the proper training is not obeyed EVERY time the weapon is loaded/unloaded its feeding mechanism can  easily leave you with a broken thumb or finger.

Let me show you what I mean:

Here is the good news from the NRA:

>> Video release of the loon that tried to firebomb Governor Rick Perry’s (R-TX) home.

>> Todd Palin at Iron Dog Race in Alaska. He is a four time champion.

>> Attention Journalism Majors – See why veteran unemployment is higher than the national average

>> Daily Caller – China moves to stamp out “Jasmine Revolution” LINK.

>> Obama Was Against Health Care Mandate in Campaign

>> Democrats having a fit over House investigations into Obama Administration lack of transparency. This is a subject we have covered many times. He promised the most transparent administration and has the least transparent since Nixon.  – LINK.

>> Gallup: GOP Image Highest Since 2005LINK.

>> Book Glamorizing Suicide Bombers Found in Arizona Desert Near BorderLINK.

>> Radicalized Muslim Cleric Arrested Sneaking into USALINK.

>> Disaster: Obama to raise ethanol in gas to 15%. Ethanol gives you lower gas mileage, eats automotive seals, breaks down into water and varnish in a few weeks if your car sits, is environmentally backwards, this will drive up food prices, it is expensive, the taxpayers subsidize it and most cars made before 2006 aren’t designed to handle it. HotAir.com has more details.

>> Newt all over the place on ethanol and global warming. His positions change depending on who he is in front of and I witnessed that at CPAC. Newt is brilliant, but like Mit Romney it seems he just wants it too badly. LINK. Gov. Daniels is pro-ethanol and has been consistent in that view. Of course he is from Indiana so what do you expect? Of course Mitch is wrong about the issue on the merits and he almost certainly knows it. Economically and logistically ethanol is a nightmare, but opposing it politically in this state may be as well and the same goes for Iowa. Mitch is truly an economic genius so I cannot believe he does not understand this.

>> Judge Vinson – ObamaCare is unconstitutional. Judge uses Obama’s own words in the ruling LINK.

>> Media Bias – Washington Post has no coverage for March for Life but gives 48 paragraphs to leftist Ingrate Ron Reagan Jr. who attack his dead father Presidnet Reagan. LINK. ABC gives 24 minutes of network news coverage of his nook in five days. What nooks gets that much network face time? – LINK. You have heard us use the term “attitude change propaganda” before well I have just given you two examples of it. Loyal son Michael Reagan responds with a simple statement, “My brother was an embarrassment to my father when he was alive, now he is an embarrassment to my mother”.

>> Jeff Sessions: Economic policy that is stuck in reverse LINK.

>> Mark Levin: Obama is NOT moderating. Has Obama called off his lawyers when it comes to ObamaCare, Texas EPA regs, illegal offshore drilling ban, suing Arizona etc. NOPE. Must see video – LINK.

>> OK this was sort of obvious but it is always good to have the evidence – Obama Justice Department Colluded with ACLU to Attack Arizona’s SB 1070 According to Documents Uncovered by Judicial WatchLINK.

>> New York Democrats indicted on voter fraud charges. Elite media yawns. LINK.

>> Reagan on the dictator of Libya:

>> Dramatic Video: Mom Lashes Out At “Scumbag” Judge That Was Found Guilty Of Sending Kids To Jail For Payola

>> O’Reilly and Bernard Goldberg on CNN’s softball interview with George Soros:

>> Texas will soon pass a new law allowing concealed carry on campus:

Many students are too young to remember, but I remember very well when only a few states in the union allowed concealed carry. Every time a new state changed the law to get more constitutionally correct the left warned that there would be shootouts right and left and that average people would be snapping at the drop of a hat. Well it hasn’t happened. In fact states who have passed such laws saw almost all crime including gun crime drop. While England and Australia passed gun bans their crime and gun crime rates when up sharply. A gun is a great equalizer and if citizens do not have them the law of the land starts to look more like the law of the jungle.

Here in Indiana as many as 1 in 12 carries a concealed handgun. How often do you hear of issues involving people with legal guns? Most citizens who are unaware of the gun culture such as the young lady who made those rather uninformed comments in the video have no idea that they are surrounded by armed people much of the time. Of course now some courts are enforcing the bill of rights on public property more and more. With Heller and the other recent rulings involving the Second Amendment expect courts to be more sympathetic to the issue of self defense. Utah has already passed a similar law for schools and it has been a success.

As I have stated before, I believe that some far left professors lack the judgment and temperament to have access to a firearm. Fortunately most of the left will not take advantage of such laws anyways.

>> Rumsfeld: “I think [Obama] has made a practice of trying to apologize for America” LINK

>> UK – Four Islamist men slashed teacher’s face and left him with fractured skull ‘for teaching other religions to Muslim girls’LINK

>> Hillary: “Israel’s settlements illegitimate“. We pointed out that Obama hired some hard core antisemites to serve on his campaign and as advisors. This is exactly the type of thing that Joe Biden promised would not happen.

>> Ann Coulter says that Sarah Palin should not run for President because it would be a step down for her. It would be like Rush Limbaugh running for President.

This may seem silly to the politically unsavvy, but think about it.  Palin has a bully pulpit that is bigger than Obama’s. She can get legislation changed with a Tweet or a Facebook note. She is the fund raiser and king maker in chief. And she can mobilize the base after an election to keep members of Congress and even a President honest.

>> Barry Rubin: NPR is not journalism it is a political warfare operation – LINK.

>> Pamela Geller: “honor killings” on the increase in the West –

The video is of Dr. Thomas Sowell who is likely the greatest and most published economist alive. He is a free market guy so this is why you may not have heard of him. The use of Dr. Sowell’s materials is virtually banned at IUSB  so do not expect to see him in class. The left is very hostile to Dr. Sowell especially because he is a black free market economist.

Via The Daily Caller:

Dr. Sowell appeared on Wednesday night’s “The Kudlow Report,” on CNBC to promote his book, “Basic Economics: A Common Sense Guide to Economics.” Host Larry Kudlow asked Sowell about the current outlook and his long-term predictions for the economic system as a whole in the United States. The senior fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution replied that politics plays into the answer.

I have never seen Dr. Sowell so concerned. As some of the good economists have said, this recession is different. Combine that with the fact that government has so effectively chased wealth out of the country and undermined economic confidence that unless we change government culture permanently and do it soon the United States may be done as an economic super power.

Euro Nations Seizing Private Pensions

Posted by iusbvision on February 15, 2011

This is one of the ideas that have been floated inside the Obama Administration.

Christian Science Monitor:

People’s retirement savings are a convenient source of revenue for governments that don’t want to reduce spending or make privatizations. As most pension schemes in Europe are organised by the state, European ministers of finance have a facilitated access to the savings accumulated there, and it is only logical that they try to get a hold of this money for their own ends. In recent weeks I have noted five such attempts: Three situations concern private personal savings; two others refer to national funds.

The most striking example is Hungary, where last month the government made the citizens an offer they could not refuse. They could either remit their individual retirement savings to the state, or lose the right to the basic state pension (but still have an obligation to pay contributions for it). In this extortionate way, the government wants to gain control over $14bn of individual retirement savings.

The Bulgarian government has come up with a similar idea. $300m of private early retirement savings was supposed to be transferred to the state pension scheme. The government gave way after trade unions protested and finally only about 20% of the original plans were implemented.

A slightly less drastic situation is developing in Poland. The government wants to transfer of 1/3 of future contributions from individual retirement accounts to the state-run social security system. Since this system does not back its liabilities with stocks or even bonds, the money taken away from the savers will go directly to the state treasury and savers will lose about $2.3bn a year. The Polish government is more generous than the Hungarian one, but only because it wants to seize just 1/3 of the future savings and also allows the citizens to keep the money accumulated so far.

The fourth example is Ireland. In 2001, the National Pension Reserve Fund was brought into existence for the purpose of supporting pensions of the Irish people in the years 2025-2050. The scheme was also supposed to provide for the pensions of some public sector employees (mainly university staff). However, in March 2009, the Irish government earmarked €4bn from this fund for rescuing banks. In November 2010, the remaining savings of €2.5bn was seized to support the bailout of the rest of the country.

The final example is France. In November, the French parliament decided to earmark €33bn from the national reserve pension fund FRR to reduce the short-term pension scheme deficit. In this way, the retirement savings intended for the years 2020-2040 will be used earlier, that is in the years 2011-2024, and the government will spend the saved up resources on other purposes.

It looks like although the governments are able to enforce general participation in pension schemes, they do not seem to be the best guardians of the money accumulated there.

The table below is a summary of the discussed fiscal-retirement situations (source):

*These figures do not include the costs of higher taxes, price inflation and low interest rates, which additionally devaluate retirement savings.

Global Warming Conference Delegates Sign Petitions to Ban Water and “Destabilize U.S. Economy”

Posted by iusbvision on February 15, 2011

Via The Blaze:

I’ve got to hand it to the folks at the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow. They‘ve come up with a creative new way to expose the scientific ignorance of many of today’s climate change fanatics.

In a Penn & Teller-style prank, CFACT asked attendees of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Cancun, Mexico, to sign two different petitions. The first asked participants to support the purposeful destabilization of the United States economy:

The first project, entitled “Petition to Set a Global Standard” sought to isolate and punish the United States of America for defying the international community, by refusing to bite, hook, line and sinker on the bait that is the Kyoto Protocol. The petition went so far as to encourage the United Nations to impose tariffs and trade restrictions on the U.S. in a scheme to destabilize the nation’s economy. Specifically, the scheme seeks to lower the U.S. GDP by 6% over a ten year period, unless the U.S. signs a U.N. treaty on global warming.

This would be an extremely radical move by the United Nations. Even so, radical left-wing environmentalists from around the world scrambled eagerly to sign.

And to prove that some people will sign anything that has the right buzz words — think “global effort,“ ”international community,“ and ”planetary” — COP 16 participants were asked to sign in support of a ban on a dangerous chemical compound: water.

The second project was as successful as the first. It was euphemistically entitled “Petition to Ban the Use of Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO)” (translation water). It was designed to show that if official U.N. delegates could be duped by college students into banning water, that they could essentially fall for anything, including pseudo-scientific studies which claim to show that global warming is man-caused.

Despite the apparently not-so-obvious reference to H2O, almost every delegate that collegian students approached signed their petition to ban that all too dangerous substance, which contributes to the greenhouse effect, is the major substance in acid rain, and is fatal if inhaled.

The video experiment helps us draw one of two conclusions: a) these people are absolutely clueless, or b) they really do hate water.  Either way, who really thinks these people should be considered “experts” when it comes to science?

Powerful Democrats help Chinese energy firm get $450 million in stimulus money

Posted by iusbvision on February 15, 2011

The Democratic Party has been caught several times taking illegal campaign money from the Chinese ( 1, 2). It seems that money has not gone to waste.

Jackie Walorski warned of this happening. It seems that she was correct.

MSNBC:

WASHINGTON — Top Democratic fundraisers and lobbyists with links to the White House are behind a proposed wind farm in Texas that stands to get $450 million in stimulus money, even though a Chinese company would operate the farm and its turbines would be built in China.

The farm’s backers also have close ties with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who, at the height of his hard-fought re-election bid this fall, helped blunt congressional criticism over stimulus dollars possibly going to create jobs in China by endorsing a proposal by the Chinese company to build a factory in his home state. Although his campaign received thousands of dollars in donations from the wind farm’s backers and Reid stood on stage with them at a campaign event they hosted, his office declined to answer any questions about the wind farm’s organizers or their plans for Nevada.

The wind farm, first announced more than a year ago, would consist of 300 2-megawatt wind turbines, each perched atop a 26-story-tall steel tower and spinning three blades — each half the length of a football field. The farm would span three counties and 36,000 acres in West Texas land best known for its oil. Dubbed the Spinning Star wind farm, the project’s 600-megawatt capacity is, theoretically, enough to power 180,000 American homes and would be the sixth-largest wind farm in the country.

It is being planned by an unusual joint partnership between the U.S. Renewable Energy Group, a Dallas investment firm with strong ties to Washington and the Democratic Party, and A-Power Energy Generation Systems, an upstart Chinese supplier of wind turbines. Filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission indicate the Chinese are bringing financing and the turbines.

What the Americans are supplying is the local know-how and political clout in Washington, where decisions on how to distribute billions in loan guarantees, stimulus grants and financial incentives are made.

The clock is ticking for Spinning Star: To claim the stimulus grant it must arrange its financing and begin work on the wind farm by Dec. 31. Besides the $450 million stimulus grant, A-Power’s SEC filings indicate the joint-venture also will pursue a Department of Energy-backed loan guarantee. According to the SEC filings, the project is waiting to hear if it will receive the loan guarantee before financing will follow to build the turbines.
